The Los Angeles Angels acquired relief pitcher Angel Perdomo from the Atlanta Braves for a player and some cash considerations. The 30-year-old lefty never threw a regular season pitch for the Braves.
Instead, the towering pitcher had a short-lived stint with the Braves after he was claimed from the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Braves claimed him but placed him on the 60-day injured list. However, he was buried in the rotation behind Dylan Lee and Aaron Bummer.
Perdomo gained some action this spring, collecting four walks and six strikeouts in 7.1 innings. Without any minor league options left, the Angels must carry him in their bullpen or make him available for a trade. He is one of five Angels pitchers (Brock Burke, Jose Quijada, Jose Suarez, Garett McDaniels) under such conditions.
Perdomo has pitched in three MLB seasons, two with the Milwaukee Brewers and one for the Pirates. He has a 4-2 record with a 5.55 ERA, a 1.438 WHIP, and 77 strikeouts in 52 games.
