Roki Sasaki finally had a chance to prove himself worthy of a Major League Baseball roster spot. In front of his home crowd, he started the second game of the 2025 Tokyo Series against the Chicago Cubs. He did not disappoint during his debut, showing the pitching arsenal that gained him success in the Nippon Professional Baseball.
Despite becoming the third-youngest Japanese-born player to make his MLB debut, Sasaki showed his superb arsenal that left the Cubs baffled. His first four pitches traveled 100, 100, 100, and 101 miles per hour, while his splitter evaded the Cubs batters. Sasaki went 1-2-3 in his first inning and finished allowing only one hit and one run in three innings.

Roki Sasaki earned his first MLB victory during his debut. Dodgers opponents are in trouble if Sasaki can sustain this performance. As he gets more comfortable in MLB, Sasaki could have a fantastic season for the defending World Series champion.
