Nathan Eovaldi completes an impressive shutout

Nathan Eovaldi has been an asset for the Texas Rangers, compiling 24 victories and getting an All-Star selection in two seasons. This season, the 35-year-old pitcher is off to a great start with an impressive victory against the Cincinnati Reds.

In addition to pitching a complete game, Eovaldi did not allow the Reds to score. He allowed four hits and earned eight strikeouts in only 99 pitches. It’s the Rangers’ first Maddux (a shutout in under 100 pitches) since Colby Lewis did it in September 2015.

The Rangers’ offense didn’t do much, with Wyatt Langford being the only hitter crossing home plate. However, it was enough to secure a 1-0 victory over the Reds. That’s just one of the Rangers’ five victories early in the season, making them leaders in the American League.
