While the St. Louis Cardinals are struggling to find victories through nine games, they’re having an easy time hitting the ball. As MLB statistician Sarah Langs pointed out, the Cardinals have had at least ten hits in all their first nine games.
They trail only the 1999 Cleveland Indians for the longest streak of that kind since the mound was established in its current distance. Unfortunately, three of their five losses came in extra innings and are on a three-game losing streak after dropping their series against the Boston Red Sox.
Through those nine games, Lars Nootbar has the most hits with 13, followed by Nolan Arenado and Brendan Donovan with 12 each. Jordan Walker has ten, while Victor Scott II has nine hits. Ivan Herrera, Masyn Winn, and Alec Burleson have eight hits each.
Therefore, it isn’t surprising that four Cardinals players who qualify for the batting title are hitting over .300. Arenado leads the way with .343, while Nootbaar, Donovan, and Walker are at .333. However, the Cardinals will try to bounce back from their losing skid when they start their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
