Major League Baseball was full of drama last Sunday, as it experienced five walk-off victories, the most since July 8, 2022. One of those game-winning hits was a two-run double by the Detroit Tigers’ Spencer Torkelson off Jordan Leasure. In addition to the 4-3 victory, the Tigers swept the Chicago White Sox in that three-game series.
Meanwhile, Wilyer Abreu had a walk-off single off Fenway Park’s Green Monster to complete a 5-4 victory for the Boston Red Sox. Abreu drilled the hit against the St. Louis Cardinals’ Ryan Fernandez, sending Alex Bregman home for their sixth victory in ten games.
In another game, the Texas Rangers’ Jonah Heim connected on a walk-off single to complete a 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. That victory extends their winning streak to five games and improves their record to 8-2.
Likewise, Tommy Pham broke an 0-for-17 hitting slump to deliver a 5-4 walk-off win for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He drilled the ball pitched by Devin Williams to deep left field, away from New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez’s reach. After blowing a three-run lead in the ninth inning, Pham’s heroics gave Pittsburgh its third win in ten games.
Finally, Wilmer Flores’ RBI single led to a 5-4 walkoff victory for the San Francisco Giants against the Seattle Mariners. That victory gave San Francisco a three-game series sweep against the Mariners, improving their record to 8-1.
