Ferguson's time to shine

Dallas tight end hasn't scored since 2023

I think we can all agree Jake Ferguson is overdue for a touchdown. Long overdue.

He caught 59 passes last year and didn’t score on any of them. He hasn’t scored on any of his 27 catches this year. And in his last five games of the 2023 season, he caught 22 scoreless passes. That’s 111 catches and no touchdowns.

I don’t have the exact numbers, but I believe its the longest streak ever for a tight end. Only three tight ends in league history have caught 60-plus passes in a season without a touchdown.

The Cowboys tonight host the Packers. As luck would have it, when these teams met in the playoffs following the 2023 season (with Green Bay racing to a huge lead early) Ferguson put up the best numbers of his career – 10 catches for 93 yards and 3 TDs.

There’s also the dynamic this week of the Cowboys playing without CeeDee Lamb. All of which has me thinking this sure looks the week Ferguson will be snapping his 22-game scoreless streak. He also should be grabbing plenty of passes (he’s caught 9 and 13 in his last two games).
