That was an eye-opening debut for Jacoby Brissett. Starting on the road against a one-loss team, he finished with 100 more passing yards than Kyler Murray has in any of his starts. And he did it with Marvin Harrison on the sideline for the majority of the game.
Trey McBride, Michael Wilson and Zay Jones all finished with better numbers in one game with Brissett than they did in any of their games with Murray.
There were, of course, mitigating circumstances. The Colts were playing without both of their starting cornerbacks (losing one in warmups). That’s a big plus. But a nice game for Brissett.
Typically with the veteran quarterback, I think of a guy who tends to be careful with the ball. He’s the NFL record holder, in fact, for lowest career interception percentage. (For our game, that tends to be a bad thing – better to have a gunslinger type, with a willingness to attempt the high-risk throws.)

The Cardinals aren’t saying whether Murray or Brissett will start in Week 7. The game Sunday may cause them to be more cautious about rushing Murray back.
For fantasy purposes, I wouldn’t be excited about rolling him out for a home game against the Packers. If he’s still in the lineup coming out of the bye (for a game against Dallas) we can talk.
With Brissett, keep in mind that he has a background with offensive coordinator Drew Petzing. They were together in Cleveland in 2022. That was the year that Brissett outperformed Deshaun Watson (which seemed more impressive at the time).
Brissett has averaged 232 passing yards in his 12 career starts with Petzing, completing 65 percent. But just 13 TD passes in those 12 games.
