Odell Beckham and John Harbaugh talk as if there’s a chance the veteran receiver will sign with the Giants. I’ll believe it when I see it – would be a wildly ill-advised decision.
Beckham was a great receiver for Big Blue way back when, but time marches on. We’re coming up on 12 years since that one-handed catch against Dallas in a Sunday night game.
Beckham had nice one-handed catch in traffic in a flag football game a few weeks back, but that was with an undersized ball and against smaller, non-NFL defensive backs.
I don’t think Beckham can play anymore. I don’t he can be a middle-of-the-pack third receiver anymore. He’ll be 34 in November, and he’s had a series of injuries, including multiple ACLs. He didn’t play at all in 2025 – in part because of a six-game PED suspension and in part because no team was interested in him. (If he were good, somebody would have picked him up for the postseason.)
When we last saw Beckham, he was getting beat out (in 2024) by Malik Washington. The Dolphins had Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, and as the season progressed, they concluded Washington was better than Beckham.
The previous season. Beckham didn’t do much with the Ravens. Harbaugh last week described Beckham as one of his ‘favorite people in the world.’ I’m not sure how much truth was in that – perhaps he was just being polite.
Beckham recently wrote, ‘See you soon’ on a social media post.
But I don’t see it. He doesn’t play special teams, and the draft is deep in wide receivers, with the expectation that at least 15 will go in the first three rounds. So I don’t see how there’s room on an NFL roster for Beckham this year.
Beckham had a couple of big catches in LA’s Super Bowl win over the Bengals, including a touchdown, before leaving that game with a torn ACL. That was four years ago. Since that time, he’s played 25 games, and he’s caught only 48 passes for 654 yards and 3 TDs in those games. (He’s also caught only 53 percent of the passes thrown his way in those games, which is lousy for a wide receiver.)
It is over.
