Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Open to Sign with Yankees

Earlier in his career, Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had a hard stance of not playing for the New York Yankees. In addition to the Yankees being their division rival, his sentiment stems from what his father, Vladimir Sr., experienced with the Yankees.

However, with his impending free agency this winter, Guerrero Jr. is declaring that all teams, including the Yankees, will have an opportunity to discuss and negotiate a contract with him. After all, the Yankees could afford to pay a massive amount for him, especially with his free agency coming at a perfect moment.

His career numbers of .288/.363/.500 makes him the top free agent after the 2025 MLB season. Since no other impending free agent could match his hitting prowess, Guerrero Jr. could command a contract worth up to $500 million. If the Yankees end up signing him, the two-time Silver Slugger Award winner is a significant upgrade from Paul Goldschmidt.

As of the 2024 MLB season, Vladmir Guerrero Jr. has a .288 batting average off 908 hits. The Canadian slugger also has 160 home runs and 507 runs batted in. Guerrero Jr. signed a one-year, $28.5 million contract to avoid arbitration with the Blue Jays.
