Eagles sign WR Wheaton

The Philadelphia Eagles signed veteran wide receiver MARKUS WHEATON to a one-year deal on Wednesday. Wheaton, 27, played last season with the Chicago Bears. With ALSHON JEFFERY, NELSON AGHOLOR, and MIKE WALLACE all in the fold in Philadelphia, Wheaton may not be of much help to fantasy teams this season.

Good news for those hoping to start Alshon Jeffery on Monday night. Washington has ruled out cornerback Josh Norman. That makes it more likely Jeffery will have a big night. (When Norman is healthy and on his game, that’s a matchup the Eagles probably would shy away from; when Carson Wentz threw for 307 yards and 2 TDs at Washington back in Week 1, Jeffery caught only 3 passes for 38 yards.)   more »

Cutler compares Parker to former teammate Jeffery

Miami quarterback JAY CUTLER has been enjoying new teammate and wide receiver DEVANTE PARKER. Cutler targeted Parker early and often in Thursday’s preseason game against Baltimore. Afterward, Cutler said that Parker was like “a faster Alshon”, comparing him to former Chicago Bears wideout ALSHON JEFFERY.

Jeffery returns to practice

Philadelphia wide receiver ALSHON JEFFERY returned to practice on Sunday after missing almost a full week because of a shoulder strain. There is still no word on whether Jeffery will play in the preseason opener on Thursday against Green Bay, but his return to practice is encouraging.

Factoid: Tennessee Titans

The Titans are expected to go hard after a free agent wideout -- maybe Alshon Jeffery, the top performer available at the position, or perhaps Kenny Stills. Plucking a wide receiver away from Miami, after all, worked out well for the team a year ago with Rishard Matthews. There's also a rumor about them exploring a trade for Brandin Cooks.  more »
