Factoid: Second-year receivers

When a receiver shows potential as a rookie (like CeeDee Lamb or Chase Claypool last year) the tendency is to assume he’ll be better in Year No. 2 – he’ll be more knowledgeable and confident. But that doesn’t show up as strongly as you might think with the numbers.  more »

Item in the Newsblast today that the Cowboys may use rookie CeeDee Lamb on punt returns this year. He's experienced, having handled punts all three years at Oklahoma, averaging 8.8 yards per return. Last year only seven NFL teams had higher averages, so 8.8 is pretty good.   more »

Cowboys could use rookie WR Lamb on punt returns

The Dallas Cowboys were one of only two teams in 2019 that did not have a single punt return over 15 yards. That could change in 2020 with the addition ofMore rookie wide receiver CEEDEE LAMB. While the transition to NFL wide receiver could take some time, rookies have often had greater success returning punts. Lamb had his share of big returns in college and could soon be helping the Cowboys in that role. Less

Ian Allan: Rookie receivers

In the vast majority of drafts, Henry Ruggs, Jerry Jeudy or CeeDee Lamb will be the first rookie receiver chosen. They were the first three pass catchers selected in the real-life draft, and there’s a tendency to have confidence that NFL teams know what they’re doing. But the numbers suggest we should probably be giving more consideration to wide receivers chosen later.  more »

Addition of rookie WR Lamb could help veteran RB Elliott

The Dallas Cowboys recently added rookie wide receiver CEEDEE LAMB to the wideout room along with holdovers AMARI COOPER and MICHAEL GALLUP. Considering the running game excelled last year when the Dallas offense spread out opposing defenses, veteran running back EZEKIEL ELLIOTT could be the big winner.
