Chris Jones gets franchise tag from Chiefs

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Kansas City Chiefs will retain defensive tackle Chris Jones with a franchise tag worth an estimated $19.7 million in 2024. Aside from that amount, he will also get $4.25 million in incentives from last season’s performance.

Kansas City DT Jones ends holdout

Kansas City announced on Monday that the team has agreed to a new one-year contract with defensive lineman CHRIS JONES, who ended his holdout and will return to the team. KansasMore City general manager Brett Veach spoke glowingly of Jones, while stressing his importance to the team’s past championship runs and to the future. Jones should be available to play for the first time on Sunday when Kansas City visits the Jacksonville Jaguars. While there’s no way to know ifMore Jones is serious, the possibility is concerning. Head coach Andy Reid said this week that “there’s been no communication” with Jones, so he’s not sure what will happen with his star defensive tackle’s holdout.
