Crosby era over in Green Bay?

Sixteen years ago, the Green Bay Packers used a sixth-round pick on kicker MASON CROSBY. In the sixth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday, the Packers drafted Auburn kicker ANDERSMore CARLSON, likely signaling the end of Crosby’s long run in Green Bay. Crosby, who remains a free agent, is the Packers’ all-time leading scorer. Carlson, meanwhile, is the brother of Las Vegas Raiders kicker DANIEL CARLSON. Less

Factoid: Red zone kickers

Daniel Carlson and Graham Gano have both benefitted from playing for kicker friendly offenses. But both the Raiders and the Giants have new coaching staffs, potentially resulting in them attempting fewer field goals.  more »

Factoid: Graham Gano

Playing around with some of the numbers, I notice that Graham Gano has been helped by a sputtering offense the last two years, with the Giants producing a lot more field goals than touchdowns.  more »

Ian Allan: Improving kickers

If form holds there will be some really good kickers who aren’t even selected in most fantasy drafts. That’s the way it tends to play out – especially last year.  more »

Factoid: Up-and-coming kickers

The four highest-scoring kickers were all lightly regarded prospects entering the season. I don’t think Daniel Carlson, Jason Sanders, Younghoe Koo or Tyler Bass were selected among the first 10 kickers in the vast majority of drafts. The Minnesota Vikings agreed to terms with kicker DAN BAILEY on a one-year deal that should solidify their kicking situation heading into the 2019 season. The Vikings signed Bailey last season, after cutting DANIEL CARLSON in Week 2. Bailey made 21 of 28 field goals for the Vikings in 2018.

Raiders change kickers

The Oakland Raiders have cut kicker MATT MCCRANE and replaced him with rookie DANIEL CARLSON. Minnesota drafted Carlson in the fifth round in April but proceeded to cut him after heMore missed 3 field goals in a 29-29 tie against division rival Green Bay in September. If your fantasy team is in need of a new kicker, please look elsewhere. Less

A day after Minnesota rookie kicker DANIEL CARLSON missed three field goals in a tie against Green Bay, the Vikings released him. The team is expected to sign veteran kicker DAN BAILEY, who was released in a surprise move by the Dallas Cowboys on September 1st.

Vikings give kicker Forbath the boot

The Minnesota Vikings released kicker KAI FORBATH on Monday and will head into the 2018 season with rookie DANIEL CARLSON handling the kicking duties. Forbath missed eight extra point attempts inMore 1 ½ seasons in Minnesota and didn’t possess the leg strength for longer kicks. Carlson was selected in the fifth round and is the highest-drafted kicker in franchise history. Less

Factoid: Minnesota kickers

I see that Kai Forbath was miffed, apparently, when the Vikings selected Daniel Carlson in the fifth round. Likely worried he might lose his job, Forbath hung up when asked to comment on the pick.  more »
