Kansas City RB Pacheco had offseason surgery

Kansas City head coach Andy Reid confirmed that running back ISIAH PACHECO is on the mend after a pair of offseason surgeries. Pacheco reportedly had an injury to his hand andMore a torn labrum, both of which were repaired during the offseason surgeries. Kansas City addresses running back corps

Kansas City raised some eyebrows this week with moves the team made in the running back room. The team re-signed veteran running back JERICK MCKINNON to a one-year contract for theMore upcoming season. Meanwhile, Kansas City declined the fifth-year option on the contract of fellow running back CLYDE EDWARDS-HELAIRE. McKinnon, who turned 31 yesterday, had the best receiving season of his career in 2022, including a streak to end the regular season of six games with at least one touchdown catch. Edwards-Helaire was drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft but has failed to live up to expectations while battling injuries along the way. Less

Factoid: Jerick McKinnon

Running backs are having a hard time landing contracts this offseason. Big names like Ezekiel Elliott and Leonard Fournette are still unemployed. And so is another running back best known for his receiving, former Kansas City back Jerick McKinnon.   more »

Factoid: Eagles receivers

The Super Bowl matchup underscores that there are different ways to put together a passing offense. The Eagles like to get the ball to their wide receivers; Kansas City, not so much.   more »

Factoid: Jerick McKinnon

I’m not sure what to make of Jerick McKinnon. He was phenomenal late in the season. In the playoffs, not so much.   more »

Edwards-Helaire nears return for Kansas City

Kansas City running back CLYDE EDWARDS-HELAIRE was designated to return to practice from injured reserve this week. The 21-day practice window is now open, meaning that Edwards-Helaire can be activated toMore the 53-man roster at any point during that window. While his teammates are excited for his return, fantasy owners of fellow running backs ISIAH PACHECO and JERICK MCKINNON may not share in the excitement. While Pacheco and McKinnon will likely continue to lead the backfield in the playoffs, time will tell if Edwards-Helaire also plays a role. Less

Factoid: Isiah Pacheco

That was a really nice rookie season for Isiah Pacheco. He ran for 830 yards, and that kind of production is rare from a rookie selected in the 7th round.   more »

Kansas City RB McKinnon makes history

Kansas City running back JERICK MCKINNON helped fantasy owners and made history in Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos. McKinnon became the first running back in the Super Bowl era withMore a receiving touchdown in five straight games. Around the NFL: Melvin Gordon

Melvin Gordon is staying in the AFC West. He says he’s signing a contract with Kansas City – his fourth city in that division.   more »

Factoid: Isiah Pacheco

Isiah Pacheco has been the most impressive of the late-round running backs. With Kansas City not having a proven, reliable player at the position, it’s reasonable to wonder if Pacheco at some point this season could have a decent role in one of the league’s best offenses.  more »

Kansas City RB Jones on roster bubble?

After signing a one-year deal with Kansas City during the offseason, speculation began about running back RONALD JONES having a significant role in the team’s offense. Thus far through training campMore and the preseason, Jones could actually be on the outside looking in after struggling to do much of anything noteworthy. The Kansas City backfield is crowded and, so far, Jones has done little to stand out from the likes of fellow running backs CLYDE EDWARDS-HELAIRE, JERICK MCKINNON, seventh-round rookie ISIAH PACHECO, and holdover restricted free agent DERRICK GORE. Kansas City brings back RB McKinnon

Kansas City is bringing back running back JERICK MCKINNON, signing the veteran to a one-year contract earlier this week. McKinnon, 30, was originally a third-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings backMore in 2014. He appeared in 13 regular-season games for Kansas City last season with minimal fanfare, although he enjoyed a nice postseason run. McKinnon will be part of a crowded backfield this season in Kansas City. Less

Around the NFL: Jerick McKinnon

Kansas City just re-signed Jerick McKinnon, and that changes the landscape of their backfield. Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Ronald Jones are already on that roster, but there could be some games (perhaps many games) where McKinnon is more productive than those guys.  more »

Around the NFL: Ronald Jones

Ronald Jones is signing with Kansas City, and I think that’s an interesting pairing. He’ll be given an opportunity to carve out a role.   more »
