Gillislee auditions for goal-line role

Patriots running back MIKE GILLISLEE wants to be New England’s goal-line back this season. His first two opportunities in practice over the weekend resulted in him powering into the end zoneMore for touchdowns. Other backs on the roster are more finesse-type backs, including JAMES WHITE, DION LEWIS, and newly acquired REX BURKHEAD. Given his skill set and opening audition, it looks like Gillislee could be in line for a big fantasy season in 2017 in a goal-line role. Less

Factoid: LeSean McCoy

I’m not crazy about LeSean McCoy. I will put him in my second tier of running backs, but I don’t expect I’ll select him in any leagues. I tend to get nervous with older running backs.  more »

Factoid: New England Patriots

I posted the Mike Gillislee blurb the other day, and apologies for double dipping. But I believe he’s going to score a lot of touchdowns. A great offense, and I think he’s going to be the back they feature around the goal line.   more »

Factoid: New England Patriots

The Patriots pulled Mike Gillislee out of Buffalo, and that has a significant impact on two backfields in the AFC East. Two good backfields. The Bills put up huge rushing numbers last year – the 2nd-best rushing numbers (using standard fantasy scoring) in the last 20 years. And the Patriots crank out 17-plus rushing touchdowns every year.  more »

Factoid: Mike Gillislee

The Patriots added Rex Burkhead in free agency. They met with Adrian Peterson, and apparently have an offer to LeGarrette Blount. And they're still not done. They had restricted free agent backs from division rivals Miami and Buffalo in for visits: Damien Williams and Mike Gillislee.   more »

Factoid: Week 17 running backs

Week 17 is an odd one in the NFL, with most teams having nothing to play for -- and some actively looking to rest players for the playoffs. Those in one-week fantasy leagues or ones where Week 17 is important may be looking to latch onto a solid No. 2 running back.   more »

Factoid: Mike Gillislee

I'm considering using Mike Gillislee in a playoff matchup this week. The Bills are at home against the Browns, who have one of the league's two worst run defenses. They're giving up 146 yards per game, with 14 rushing scores.   more »
