Factoid: Young pass catchers

The expectation was that the Packers would add an experienced pass catcher at some point. That never happened, but it didn’t matter at all. They got by just fine with the youngest receiving group in the league.   more »

Factoid: Green Bay Wideouts

Just one year ago, Kansas City had a bottom-10 pass defense in the NFL. They allowed 33 touchdown passes -- 4 more than any other team, including 20 to wide receivers. They were terrible. What a difference a year has made. I will be avoiding the Green Bay passing game this week.   more »

Packers offense continues to deal with injuries

The Green Bay Packers released the team’s first injury report of Week #2 on Wednesday, leaving fantasy owners with some concerns. Running back AARON JONES and wide receiver CHRISTIAN WATSON bothMore missed Wednesday’s practice while dealing with respective hamstring issues. Wide receiver ROMEO DOUBS was limited on Wednesday with, you guessed it – a hamstring issue – but he played through the issue in the season opener and scored two touchdowns. Fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on the Packers’ injury report as the week progresses. Less

Packers get mixed news on injured wideouts

Green Bay Packers wide receiver ROMEO DOUBS, who missed Wednesday’s practice and has been out of practice for the past couple of weeks due to a hamstring injury, returned to practiceMore on Thursday. His return provides hope that he will be available for Sunday’s season opener against the Chicago Bears. Meanwhile, fellow wide receiver CHRISTIAN WATSON remained out with his own hamstring injury to open Thursday’s practice, potentially pushing him closer to a doubtful designation for Sunday. Less

Packers starting wide receivers dealing with hamstring issues

Green Bay Packers starting wide receivers ROMEO DOUBS and CHRISTIAN WATSON are both dealing with hamstring issues leading up to Sunday’s season opener against the Chicago Bears. Doubs has been missingMore time with a bad hammy, which kept him out of the preseason finale. The newest injury comes to Watson, who missed practice on Wednesday with a hamstring injury. Second round rookie receiver JAYDEN REED remained in the slot full-time with Doubs out in the third preseason game, but his role could change if both Watson and Doubs were to miss the Chicago game. Around the NFL: Christian Watson

The Packers are going very young at receiver, with probably all first- and second-year guys making up their top three or four wideouts and starter (maybe backup too) at tight end. Many should be undervalued in drafts.   more »

Around the NFL: Romeo Doubs

I like the look of Romeo Doubs. He’s a guy I expect I’ll be selecting in the later rounds of a lot of my drafts as a depth receiver. (I have drafted only one team so far, in fact, and Doubs is on it.)   more »

Packers WR Doubs has great expectations for QB Love

Green Bay Packers second year wide receiver ROMEO DOUBS isn’t concerned about the team switching from veteran quarterback AARON RODGERS to young signal caller JORDAN LOVE heading into the 2023 season.More Doubs went as far as to say that he thinks Love “can do the same exact thing” as Rodgers, adding that he “really didn’t see what’s the big difference”. While his confidence in Love is admirable, Doubs apparently is not aware that Rodgers is an 18-year veteran, one of the most talented throwers in NFL history and a surefire Hall of Famer with 223 starts, 59,055 yards and 475 touchdowns to his name. Green Bay signs QB Love to one-year extension

The Green Bay Packers signed quarterback JORDAN LOVE to a one-year contract extension earlier this week, essentially giving Love a two-year window to show his potential as the team’s starting quarterback.More Green Bay officially moved on from veteran quarterback AARON RODGERS last week. The Packers then proceeded to use the NFL Draft to surround Love with some new targets. Green bay added wide receiver JAYDEN REED and tight end LUKE MUSGRAVE in the second round and then added another tight end, TUCKER KRAFT, in the third round. The trio will join second-year receivers CHRISTIAN WATSON and ROMEO DOUBS to form the core of a young Packers passing game. Less

Packers QB Love short on receiving weapons

With young signal caller JORDAN LOVE set to take over the starting quarterback job in Green Bay this season, head coach Matt Lafleur said last week that the Packers would needMore “to add some bodies” to the wide receiver room for 2023. At this point, the Packers only have three receivers on the roster who have ever played in more than one NFL game. CHRISTIAN WATSON (14 games), ROMEO DOUBS (13) and SAMORI TOURE (11) are all coming off their rookie seasons. While there are still some veteran free agent wideouts available, the Packers have not been active participants in free agency thus far. Less

Packers WR Lazard misses Wednesday practice

Green Bay Packers wide receiver ALLEN LAZARD missed another practice on Wednesday and his status for the season opener this weekend remains uncertain. Head coach Matt LaFleur said on Wednesday thatMore Lazard “got stepped on last week”, an unfortunate injury that has left fantasy owners scrambling. If Lazard can’t go in the season opener, the Packers would likely need more production from rookies CHRISTIAN WATSON and ROMEO DOUBS. Less
