Christian Watson left Green Bay’s game with a knee injury. That should be putting Dontayvion Wicks on everyone’s radar in playoff drafts.
It’s not official yet, but I wouldn’t think Watson will be playing in the postseason. They’ll have to use Wicks more, but that shouldn’t hurt the offense much. Wicks doesn’t have the same kind of speed, but he’s been effective when called upon.
When moved up into a starter-type role, in fact, Wicks has been about as productive as their other wide receivers (Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs).
Wicks caught 5 passes for 49 yards against Chicago today. And he’s caught 4 passes in each of the last three games that one of the other receivers was missing. Back in Week 4, Watson got knocked out of a game against Minnesota, with Wicks caught 5 passes for 78 yards and 2 TDs.
There have been six games this year where Wicks has been on the field for at least two thirds of the team’s plays. He’s averaged 4 catches for 45 yards in those games, with 2 TDs.
When all of the other receivers are healthy, on the other hand, Wicks hasn’t been much of a factor. He’s averaged 1.4 catches for 13 yards in those 11 games, with 3 TDs.
I’m not suggesting Wicks is the secret weapon who will win your playoff competition for you, but he’ll be grading out as a later-round value who’ll catch 3-4 passes. (He’d be a little more likeable were the Eagles not playing so well against the pass right now.)
