Eagles release WR Mathews

The Philadelphia Eagles released running back RYAN MATHEWS after he passed his team physical. The move was expected and will save the team money since they will not need to pay Mathews an injury settlement. Mathews, 29, is now free to seek employment elsewhere but his fantasy appeal is limited.

Sproles cleared from concussion

Philadelphia running back DARREN SPROLES has been cleared to return from the concussion that kept him out of last Sunday’s game. Sproles is expected to play Thursday against the New York Giants and will likely split carries with fellow running back RYAN MATHEWS.

Eagles RB Mathews handles Ravens defense

Philadelphia running back RYAN MATHEWS rushed for a season-high 128 yards and scored a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens top-ranked rushing defense on Sunday. Mathews’ rushing yards accounted for 39 percent of the Eagles’ total yardage against the Ravens. The Eagles lost the game, but fantasy owners didn’t mind.

Sproles out Sunday vs. Ravens

Mathews and Matthews return to practice
