We’re moving into the time of the year where some may be looking to make late-season additions for dynasty leagues – picking up prospects that could pay off in future seasons. With that in mind, I offer updated rankings for dynasty leagues. I generally try to hit one of these on the weekend, and I’m going with running backs this time.

To me, Ezekiel Elliott still looks like the top dog. He’s missing five more games this year with the league suspension, but he’s still got a lot of production football in front of him. He’s only 22. With that offensive line in front of him, he might be the league’s most productive back for the next three-four years.

With these being long-term rankings, I’ve got two other injured backs in my top 10. David Johnson and Dalvin Cook aren’t playing right now, but they should be piling up the numbers starting next year.

I’m using standard scoring, with 6 points for touchdowns and 1 for every 10 yards (run/rec). I tend to discriminate against the older backs. With guys like Gore, Peterson and Lynch, I’m not sure they’re even in the league next year. And I don’t know how much productive football 29-year-olds like LeSean McCoy have left.

These aren’t scientific rankings. I just put them in order and then played around with the rankings for about an hour, trying to cobble together a list that felt right.

I’m cutting it off at 100. Down there, I’m starting to get into practice squad type guys, like Jeremy McNichols (who flopped in Tampa Bay but should still salvage his career) and Jonathan Williams (who just got signed by New Orleans).
