It's the start of the fantasy playoffs for many, and those who drafted Christian McCaffrey No. 1 overall and somehow snuck into the postseason anyway were hoping to have him back and leading their offense this week. Well, not so fast.

In addition to the shoulder injury that's kept him out of the last few weeks, McCaffrey also has a thigh injury, which he reportedly tweaked in practice. Matt Rhule said he wasn't sure when the injury occurred, calling him day to day. The Panthers are coming off their bye week; it might be something he picked up while working out.

Maybe McCaffrey's insane workload in 2019 is catching up to him. Whatever the case, if you had Mike Davis on your roster and were thinking about dropping him, hold off on that plan. McCaffrey's status is in question for this week; might well be Davis in the lineup against the Broncos.

Davis is no McCaffrey, but he's been pretty decent. Here are the week-by-week numbers. Last column shows PPR points.

I was all queued up to cut Davis loose ahead of a playoff matchup this week. I'm going to hang onto him for a few more days while we see what McCaffrey's status is. Even if I don't need to start him, I wouldn't want Davis to be facing me if McCaffrey winds up inactive.
