Vikings RB Cook won’t play Sunday following father’s death

Minnesota running back DALVIN COOK will not play in Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions after leaving the team to be with his family following the death of his father. Backup ALEXANDER MATTISON has missed three of the Vikings past four games dealing with an appendectomy and a concussion. He did return to practice on Wednesday and could be on track to clear the concussion protocol and play on Sunday. If Mattison is not available, the Vikings will rely on AMEER ABDULLAH and MIKE BOONE in the backfield.
