Raiders sign RB Williams to add backfield depth

The Las Vegas Raiders are adding running back depth by signing veteran rusher DAMIEN WILLIAMS. With JOSH JACOBS still holding out, Williams will join fellow running backs ZAMIR WHITE and AMEERMore ABDULLAH on the roster. Williams, 31, played in just one game last season with the Atlanta Falcons while spending most of his time on injured reserve before being released in December. Fantasy owners may recall that Williams had a big postseason and Super Bowl for Kansas City following the 2019 campaign. Less

Around the NFL: Josh Jacobs

It looks like I'm going to have Josh Jacobs on a lot of teams this year. Every story that comes out about him is negative, with a new one every day. What's interesting is that none of them actually have anything to do with him, but with people's expectations about the Raiders backfield.   more »

Around the NFL: Ameer Abdullah

The Raiders plan to release Kenyan Drake, and that has me thinking Ameer Abdullah could be a sneaky decent depth pick in PPR drafts. I’m thinking Abdullah will catch a decent number of passes as a third-down back.  more »

Vikings RB Cook won’t play Sunday following father’s death

Minnesota running back DALVIN COOK will not play in Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions after leaving the team to be with his family following the death of his father. BackupMore ALEXANDER MATTISON has missed three of the Vikings past four games dealing with an appendectomy and a concussion. He did return to practice on Wednesday and could be on track to clear the concussion protocol and play on Sunday. If Mattison is not available, the Vikings will rely on AMEER ABDULLAH and MIKE BOONE in the backfield. Less

Abdullah returning to Vikings

Minnesota running back AMEER ABDULLAH is returning to the Vikings after signing a new contract with the team. Abdullah was a second-round pick of the Detroit Lions in 2015 but heMore never lived up to his lofty draft status and was released last season. After the Vikings claimed Abdullah, he was used sparingly through seven games. Abdullah appears to be a deep sleeper, at best, heading into the 2019 season. Less

Vikings claim RB Abdullah

The Minnesota Vikings claimed former Detroit running back AMEER ABDULLAH off waivers on Wednesday. Abdullah, 25, was the Lions’ leading rusher two of the past three seasons but he has mostlyMore been a fantasy disappointment. His chances to make a fantasy impact behind DALVIN COOK and LATAVIUS MURRAY appear very limited. Less

Lions release Abdullah

The Detroit Lions released running back and perennial fantasy sleeper AMEER ABDULLAH on Tuesday. Over 3 ½ seasons, Abdullah failed to live up to his potential in both fantasy football and the real version. He appeared in just three games this season, serving primarily as a kick returner.

Abdullah on roster bubble in Detroit

Detroit running back AMEER ABDULLAH has been a popular sleeper pick in recent years but he is on the roster bubble for the 2018 season. With veterans LEGARRETTE BLOUNT and THEOMore RIDDICK, along with rookie KERRYON JOHNSON assured of roster spots, Abdullah may be fortunate to even make the team. If Abdullah is on the opening-day roster, his fantasy prospects appear dim. Less

Abdullah finally has healthy offseason

Detroit running back AMEER ABDULLAH is enjoying his first injury-free offseason as he heads into a contract year in 2018. Unfortunately for Abdullah, the Lions signed veteran LEGARRETTE BLOUNT and draftedMore rookie KERRYON JOHNSON in the offseason. With the crowded backfield, Abdullah may see more time as a kick returner this season. Less

Around the NFL: Ameer Abdullah

There was a story over the weekend that the Lions could shop Ameer Abdullah. My knee jerk reaction was, for what, exactly? Abdullah has been in the league three years now, and he's been nothing but disappointing. A couple of flashes in the preseason, but nowhere to be found when the games start.   more »

Abdullah facing diminishing role

Detroit Lions running back AMEER ABDULLAH started the first 11 games of the season but has barely played the last 3 weeks. Abdullah said he hasn’t received an explanation for whyMore he lost his starting job but a close look at his career-worst numbers provides some insight. Abdullah does not appear likely to help fantasy owners anytime soon. Less

Around the NFL: Pains in the neck

Trivia: November 17, 2017

Who are the only active players who have had kickoff returns over 100 yards without scoring? As luck would have it, these two players are currently on teams that will play each other this week. Neither has been a factor as a returner this year. One is a skill-position guy who's been starting all year. The other is way more obscure but was involved in one of the more notable plays of last week. answer »
