Bengals QB Joe Burrow Cleared for Full Contact

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed to the media that quarterback Joe Burrow is cleared for full contact. This update comes at the right time, as training camp starts for all NFL teams.

Burrow played only ten games last season due to a wrist injury. While the Bengals finished the 2023 season at 9-8, it wasn’t enough to reach the playoffs. It’s also an unfortunate end to his season after signing a five-year, $275 million contract extension.

The former LSU standout will be the undisputed starter for the Bengals despite Jake Browning’s strong showing during his absence. However, much will be expected from him after becoming one of the highest-paid NFL players.

Likewise, Bengals fans are hoping for a return trip to the Super Bowl, which Burrow already did in the 2021 NFL season. But before reaching that goal, Bengals supporters hope Burrow will have an injury-free training camp.

In 2022, his appendix ruptured, forcing him to undergo an appendectomy. A year later, he injured his calf during one of their scrimmages. While those instances are beyond the team’s control, the Bengals continue to invest in Burrow’s protection by drafting Amarius Mims in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Cincinnati also brought in Trent Brown on a one-year, $4.75 million deal.
