James Cook, Maxx Crosby, Ka'Imi Fairbairn Named AFC Players Of The Week

The National Football League has announced that James Cook, Maxx Crosby, and Ka’imi Fairbairn are the American Football Conference’s best players for Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season. All three players helped their teams win their respective matchups that week.

Cook’s 78 rushing yards, 17 receiving yards, and three touchdowns (two rushing) were instrumental in the Buffalo Bills’ victory over their division rivals, the Miami Dolphins. His three touchdowns came in the first half, helping establish Buffalo’s 24-10 halftime lead that proved too big for Miami to overhaul. This stellar Week 2 performance gives the third-year running back from Georgia 149 rushing yards, 49 receiving yards, and three touchdowns for the season.

Meanwhile, Crosby was an unstoppable force during the Las Vegas Raiders’ 26-23 road victory over the Baltimore Ravens. The All-Pro defensive end earned Defensive Player of the Week honors after tallying six tackles (five solo), four tackles for losses, two sacks, two quarterback hits, and a pass deflection.

Crosby made a critical stop during the Ravens’ penultimate offensive drive when he sacked reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Lamar Jackson for a nine-yard loss on first down. Through two games, the former Eastern Michigan standout has seven solo tackles, three sacks, and a defended pass.

Finally, Fairbairn was the AFC’s Specials Teams Player of the Week after scoring 13 of the 19 Houston Texans points in their win over the Chicago Bears. His point total included four field-goal conversions and an extra point, tying Chicago’s point total in that game.

For Week 3, Cook and the Bills will host the Jacksonville Jaguars, while Fairbairn and the Texans visit the Minnesota Vikings. Crosby and the Raiders will welcome the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Sept. 22.
