Travis Kelce Becomes Chiefs All-Time Receptions Leader

For the first three games of the 2024 NFL season, tight end Travis Kelce finished with eight receptions for 69 yards. Those numbers don't resemble a seven-time All-Pro who contributed significantly to three Super Bowl-winning rosters. However, he finally had his breakout game, leading him to establish a new franchise record.

Kelce helped the Kansas City Chiefs remain undefeated by tallying seven receptions for 89 yards in their Week 4 victory over their division rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers. In addition to maintaining the Chiefs’ undefeated record, Kelce became the franchise’s all-time receptions leader, surpassing the 917 catches made by Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez.

Kelce broke Gonzalez’s record when he caught a five-yard pass from Patrick Mahomes barely a minute into the second quarter. That reception was his 917th regular season catch, all made with the Chiefs since they selected him in the 2013 NFL Draft.

While he didn’t score a touchdown against the Chargers, his catches helped the Chiefs move the chains in the low-scoring affair. Travis Kelce has 15 catches for 158 yards and zero touchdowns through four games.

However, this solid performance against the Chargers could jumpstart better outputs for him. Kelce can continue this good rhythm when the Chiefs try to extend their undefeated record against the New Orleans Saints in Week 5.
