Lamar Jackson Making An Early Case for League MVP

The Baltimore Ravens endured the tough battle presented by the Cincinnati Bengals. With Joe Burrow throwing for 392 passing yards and five touchdowns, the Ravens were in trouble to drop that Week 5 Sunday Night Football road game.

However, the Ravens were never out of contention because Lamar Jackson kept them in the game. In addition to staying on pace with Burrow, the two-time NFL Most Valuable Player completed a magnificent match, tallying 26 completions for 348 passing yards and four touchdowns.

The second TD he completed to tight end Isaiah Likely was the most impressive of his throws. Jackson regained possession after fumbling the ball and escaped a sack opportunity from Sam Hubbard before finding Likely in the end zone.

A game from Jackson won’t be complete without his rushing yards. While he took a back seat to Derrick Henry’s 92 yards and a touchdown, he still added 55 yards out of 12 attempts. Jackson’s yards were vital in the Ravens’ 41-38 victory.

Those numbers made Jackson the quarterback with the most games of at least four touchdown passes and 50 rushing yards. His performance against the Bengals was the sixth 50-rushing-yard, four-touchdown game of his career, three more than Cam Newton and four more than Michael Vick and Aaron Rodgers.

More importantly, Jackson led the Ravens to their third consecutive victory. His performance against Cincinnati will give him the momentum to perform well against another surging team, the Washington Commanders, in their Week 6 showdown.
