Joe Burrow Has Been Exceptional Despite Bengals' Tough Luck

While the Cincinnati Bengals are accustomed to slow starts, turning the tide from their 1-4 record would be challenging. They had a fighting chance to win those games, only to come up short in the end. However, though victories are hard to come by, Joe Burrow has been playing spectacular football in the first five games.

As the Bengals’ account on X/Twitter pointed out, Burrow is first among quarterbacks in touchdown passes with 12 to go with 1,370 passing yards. He also leads the league in passer rating (113.6) and completions of at least 40 yards (5). Meanwhile, he is second to Jayden Daniels in completion percentage at 72.3.

Sadly, his valiant efforts do not translate into victories. The Bengals lost their season opener to the New England Patriots by six points and their Week 2 game against the Kansas City Chiefs by one point (26-25). They also lost by five points to the Washington Commanders and three versus the Baltimore Ravens. Their only win came against the Carolina Panthers 34-24.

Dropping to 1-5 will be difficult for Burrow and the Bengals. Therefore, they must make their move starting in their Week 6 road game against the New York Giants. A week later, they will visit the Cleveland Browns before welcoming the Philadelphia Eagles at Paycor Stadium.
