The Cincinnati Bengals’ season is on life support after losing four of their first five games. Therefore, winning their Week 6 game against the New York Giants is a must to make their postseason aspirations more manageable.
However, while the Giants established a good fight, they could not outdo Joe Burrow’s will to win. Facing third-and-18 from the Giants’ 47-yard line in the first quarter, the Pro Bowl quarterback tricked the Giants’ defense out of the spread formation.
He took off after an initial three-step drop and ran the ball to the house for a touchdown. After covering most of the wide-open field, Burrow dove into the end zone to defeat the chasing Giants defender. That valiant effort by Burrow broke the game’s scoreless tie. More importantly, it established the tone that helped the Bengals complete a 17-7 victory on the road.

While Burrow did not throw a touchdown pass for the first time in the last four games, he found a way to score points. More importantly, he did not turn the ball over while completing 19 passes out of 28 attempts.
The Bengals’ losing record masks Burrow’s exceptional play through the first six games. In addition to completing 71.6 percent of his throws, he has 12 touchdowns against two interceptions.
The victory over New York could jumpstart the Bengals’ surge as they chase a postseason return. However, Burrow and the crew should have an ace when they visit their division rivals, the Cleveland Browns, on October 20.
