As reported by beat reporter Eric Woodyard and tweeted by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is facing a two-game suspension for violating the league’s Performance-Enhancing Substances policy. However, there’s no word on the substance he took that led to his suspension.
The former Alabama standout received the verdict after the Lions’ monumental Week 7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. After that game, Williams tallied 30 receptions for 361 yards and three touchdowns. He also has four carries for 32 yards.

However, he had a disappointing performance against the Vikings, getting one catch for negative yardage. That’s uncharacteristic for a player with 121 receiving yards in the season opener versus the Los Angeles Rams. Williams also had games with 80, 79, and 76 yards before the Minnesota game.
Likewise, this suspension means Williams won’t play an entire NFL regular season. He played in only six games during his rookie season due to the recovery period from the ACL injury he suffered while playing with the Crimson Tide.
A year later, he was initially suspended for six games for violating the league’s gambling policy. However, the league shortened his suspension to four games before lifting his ban. Williams has 90 catches for 835 yards and seven touchdowns in 27 career games (including playoffs).
