Will Travis Kelce Play Next Season?

Travis Kelce gave a forgettable performance in Super Bowl LIX, finishing with four catches for 39 yards. In addition to dropping some passes from Patrick Mahomes, he was a step slower when blocking the Philadelphia Eagles defenders after Creed Humphrey snapped the ball. Could those realities show that he might have played his final NFL game?

Speaking to his brother, former NFL offensive lineman Jason Kelce, on their New Heights podcast, the three-time Super Bowl champion will be taking it one day at a time to decide on his future.

“I know everybody wants to know whether or not I’m playing next year and right now I’m just kicking everything down the road. I’m kicking every can down the road and I’m not making any crazy decisions. But right now, the biggest thing is just being there for my teammates and being there for my coaches, understanding that there’s a lot that goes into this.”

Kelce has one year left in his two-year, $34.25 million restructured contract extension. However, if this is the end, he must be a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer. In addition to having some of the major receiving records for tight ends, he has seven All-Pro and ten Pro Bowl selections. The Chiefs will have a massive void to fill if he ends up retiring.
