Dynasty Leagues: Oh, Henry

Have we seen the last greatness out of Derrick Henry? He’s closing in on 29, and he’s trying to run behind an offensive line that’s a shell of what it’s been in the past. He averaged under 2 yards per carry on Monday night, and he finished short of 4 yards per attempt in the opener against the Giants.   more »

Factoid: Rookie running backs

What (if anything) should we be making of the preseason? When a running back rips it up in August, is that an indication he’s going to be good in the real games? And when a running back struggles, is that an early indication that he’s doomed to be a failed draft pick?  more »

Around the NFL: New York Jets

Offensive tackle Mekhi Becton is likely out for the season, and that’s a big loss for the Jets offense. He was going to be a key component helping to power what was looking like one of the league’s most underrated running games.  more »

Factoid: Running Back Sweet Spot

There were no running backs selected in the first round this year, but there were two drafted in the first half of the second round. Breece Hall went to the Jets at the 36th pick, and Ken Walker went to the Seahawks with the 41st selection. It's a really nice area for running backs to go in these days.   more »

Around the NFL: Ken Walker

A report out of Seahawk OTAs yesterday is that Rashaad Penny is dealing with a hamstring injury. Ordinarily not a big deal, with it being May, but it prompts a raised eyebrow given Penny's poor career track record of durability. And has me thinking about rookie Ken Walker.  more »

Around the NFL: Breece Hall

I could see myself drafting Breece Hall. Nice-looking back, and I think he’s going into a surprisingly decent spot. For the 2022 season, I think he’ll be the best of the rookies (though I’m not officially locking in on that yet – my board is a work in progress.   more »

Around the NFL: Running backs, at last

No running backs were selected in Round 1 of the NFL Draft, which wasn't a huge surprise. Some thought 1-2 might slip in late in the round, but it wasn't to be. But those backs -- Iowa State's Breece Hall, Michigan State's Kenneth Walker -- did go in last night's second round, and four more were gone by the end of Day 2.   more »

Andy Richardson: Kenneth Walker

Based on most draft preview articles, there are two running backs widely viewed as the top selections at the position in next week's draft. Iowa State's Breece Hall is the favorite -- likeliest to be a first-rounder, if there is one -- but Michigan State's Kenneth Walker also has his fans.   more »
