Fantasy News: Thursday night recap
It’s not quite the Lions or Cowboys hosting games on Thanksgiving, but the tradition seems to be for Cincinnati to host an early-season undercard-type game in Prime Time. Sneak it in there early, I think, while viewers are willing to watch any game that has a ball with “NFL” stamped on the side. Six years in a row the Bengals have played in September in the Monday or Thursday slot. more »

Around the NFL: Joe Mixon
Who's in on Joe Mixon? On the one hand, he burned a lot of teams that selected him a year ago, appearing in only 6 games. On the other hand, those six games were pretty awesome -- he'll outperform his draft position if he's healthy this year. more »

Bengals have perfect attendance at OTAs
The Cincinnati Bengals had full attendance at the team’s initial OTA session earlier this week, including participation from quarterback JOE BURROW and running back JOE MIXON. Around the NFL: Bengals running backs
Toward the end of one of the Experts competitions last week, one participant accidentally had Adrian Peterson autodrafted for him. He asked me to switch that to Samaje Perine, which briefly gave me pause; I had to search my memory for where Perine was employed. He's in Cincinnati, and with Giovani Bernard gone, he looks like Joe Mixon's main backup. Not a bad last-round flier. more »

Bengals OC doesn’t want Mixon to leave the field in 2021
Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan said this week that he does not want to see star running back JOE MIXON leave the field this season. With little depth behind Mixon,… More he certainly seems in line for a three-down workload in 2021. Thus far into his career, Mixon has yet to play more than 60 percent of the Bengals’ offensive snaps in a single season. Less

Bengals release RB Bernard
The Cincinnati Bengals have released 29-year-old running back GIOVANI BERNARD. The veteran running back played all eight of his NFL seasons with Cincinnati after being drafted in the second round back… More in 2013. If oft-injured running back JOE MIXON can stay healthy in 2021, he should see an increased workload with Bernard no longer in town. Less

Bengals could trade RB Bernard
The Cincinnati Bengals have reportedly talked with multiple teams about the possibility of trading veteran running back GIOVANI BERNARD. Moving on from Bernard would save the Bengals more than $4 million… More against the salary cap but would leave the team without a veteran backup behind oft-injured starter JOE MIXON. With Mixon injured for most of last season, Bernard played all 16 games and started 10 of those games. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, all the playing time did not translate to fantasy success. Bengals RB Bernard in NFL concussion protocol
Cincinnati Bengals running back GIOVANI BERNARD was a surprise absence from Wednesday’s practice after being placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Bernard’s availability for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants… More is in serious doubt after entering the protocol just a few days before the game. With fellow running back JOE MIXON on injured reserve, the Bengals will likely rely on SAMAJE PERINE and TRAYVEON WILLIAMS if Bernard is also out. Less

Bengals RB Mixon, WR Higgins miss practice
Cincinnati Bengals running back JOE MIXON missed another practice on Thursday, making it unlikely that he will be available for Sunday’s game against the Washington Football Team. Mixon has only appeared… More in six games this season as he deals with a nagging foot issue. Bengals rookie wide receiver TEE HIGGINS was also a surprise absence from Thursday’s practice due to an “illness”. Fantasy owners should check the status of both players in Friday's practice. Less
