Factoid: Older running backs
Tomorrow is Ezekiel Elliott's 28th birthday, and he's still looking for a new employer. He's one of several veteran running backs of about that age without a job, another big name being Leonard Fournette (who recently worked out for New England). It's an increasingly suspect age for production from the position. more »

Patriots to “keep tabs” on Fournette after visit
The New England Patriots met with veteran running back LEONARD FOURNETTE earlier this week, but the free agent rusher left town without agreeing to terms on a contract. The Patriots are… More reportedly expected to “keep tabs” on Fournette, who could be an option to provide backfield depth behind starting running back RHAMONDRE STEVENSON. The Patriots are also believed to be interested in free agent running back DALVIN COOK. Stay tuned, fantasy owners. Less

Bucs RB White hopes to eclipse 1,000 yards
RACHAAD WHITE is heading into his second season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers expected to take over as the lead back with LEONARD FOURNETTE no longer in town. White said recently… More that he wanted to do his job and eclipse the 1,000-yard rushing mark, something that has not happened in Tampa Bay since Doug Martin accomplished the feat back in 2015. While White had a solid rookie season, his offensive line is suspect heading into the upcoming season and Tom Brady is no longer around to occupy the attention of opposing defenses. Less

Bucs sign RB Edmonds to one-year deal
In the wake of LEONARD FOURNETTE’s release, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed running back CHASE EDMONDS to a one-year deal for the veteran minimum of $1.08 million. Edmonds, 26, is… More projected as a backup to second-year speedster RACHAAD WHITE. He joins a running back room expected to feature White, fourth-year reserve KE’SHAWN VAUGHN, and perhaps a draft choice. Less

Around the NFL: Leonard Fournette
There was a report yesterday that the Bucs are planning to release Leonard Fournette. This is not a surprise, with the team seemingly looking at rebuilding type year. (At the moment, 2021 second-rounder Kyle Trask would be the starting quarterback.) Good news for Rachaad White, who could be Tampa Bay's starting running back next season, and uncertainty for Fournette himself. more »

Bucs plan to release veteran RB Fournette
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly planning to release veteran running back LEONARD FOURNETTE after a disappointing 2022 season. Fournette supposedly asked the team for his release, and the Bucs appear… More to have granted his wish. Tampa Bay will also save about $3.5 million on the salary cap by releasing Fournette. Less

Dynasty Leagues: Long-term RB rankings
It can be debated whether Leonard Fournette or Rachaad White will be better for the duration of the season. Fournette has more experience, while White just started ahead of him for first time last week. I consider them to be a one-two punch (and while White ran for over 100 yards in Munich, I thought Fournette was the more impressive of the two in that game). more »

NFL suspends Bucs WR Evans for one game
The NFL suspended Tampa Bay Bucs wide receiver MIKE EVANS for one game for his role in a fight in Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. Evans is suspended “for… More violations of unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct rules”, according to the league. Evans pushed the Saints’ MARSHON LATTIMORE to the turf after he engaged in an altercation with TOM BRADY and LEONARD FOURNETTE. Both Evans and Lattimore were ejected from Sunday’s game. Evans, meanwhile, is expected to appeal the suspension. Less

Bucs entire offense questionable for Week #2
OK, so maybe a bit of an exaggeration. But the Tampa Bay Bucs have several key offensive players trying to overcome injuries heading into Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.… More Wide receivers MIKE EVANS (calf), JULIO JONES (knee), and CHRIS GODWIN (hamstring) all missed Thursday’s practice for Tampa Bay. Wide receiver RUSSELL GAGE and running back LEONARD FOURNETTE practiced on Thursday, but both were limited by hamstring issues. Fantasy owners (and TOM BRADY) are hoping for better news coming out of today’s practice session. Less

Factoid: Older running backs
A lot of the top running back prospects are older guys – not ancient, but guys in the second halves of their careers. That makes me nervous, with it tending to be a younger man’s position. more »
