Leonard Fournette won’t have a chance to contribute to the Buffalo Bills’ postseason run after the team released him from their practice squad. He could have been elevated to the active roster in the playoffs if an active player gets injured.

Factoid: Older running backs

Tomorrow is Ezekiel Elliott's 28th birthday, and he's still looking for a new employer. He's one of several veteran running backs of about that age without a job, another big name being Leonard Fournette (who recently worked out for New England). It's an increasingly suspect age for production from the position.   more »

Bucs RB White hopes to eclipse 1,000 yards

RACHAAD WHITE is heading into his second season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers expected to take over as the lead back with LEONARD FOURNETTE no longer in town. White said recentlyMore that he wanted to do his job and eclipse the 1,000-yard rushing mark, something that has not happened in Tampa Bay since Doug Martin accomplished the feat back in 2015. Bucs sign RB Edmonds to one-year deal

In the wake of LEONARD FOURNETTE’s release, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed running back CHASE EDMONDS to a one-year deal for the veteran minimum of $1.08 million. There was a report yesterday that the Bucs are planning to release Leonard Fournette. This is not a surprise, with the team seemingly looking at rebuilding type year. (At the moment, 2021 second-rounder Kyle Trask would be the starting quarterback.) Good news for Rachaad White, who could be Tampa Bay's starting running back next season, and uncertainty for Fournette himself.   more »

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly planning to release veteran running back LEONARD FOURNETTE after a disappointing 2022 season. Fournette supposedly asked the team for his release, and the Bucs appearMore to have granted his wish. Meanwhile, Bucs GM Jason Licht raved about rookie running back RACHAAD WHITE and backup KE’SHAWN VAUGHN at the scouting combine on Tuesday. Tampa Bay will also save about $3.5 million on the salary cap by releasing Fournette. Less

Dynasty Leagues: Long-term RB rankings

It can be debated whether Leonard Fournette or Rachaad White will be better for the duration of the season. Fournette has more experience, while White just started ahead of him for first time last week. I consider them to be a one-two punch (and while White ran for over 100 yards in Munich, I thought Fournette was the more impressive of the two in that game).   more »

NFL suspends Bucs WR Evans for one game

The NFL suspended Tampa Bay Bucs wide receiver MIKE EVANS for one game for his role in a fight in Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. Evans is suspended “forMore violations of unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct rules”, according to the league. Evans pushed the Saints’ MARSHON LATTIMORE to the turf after he engaged in an altercation with TOM BRADY and LEONARD FOURNETTE. Both Evans and Lattimore were ejected from Sunday’s game. Evans, meanwhile, is expected to appeal the suspension. Less

Bucs entire offense questionable for Week #2

OK, so maybe a bit of an exaggeration. But the Tampa Bay Bucs have several key offensive players trying to overcome injuries heading into Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.More Wide receivers MIKE EVANS (calf), JULIO JONES (knee), and CHRIS GODWIN (hamstring) all missed Thursday’s practice for Tampa Bay. Wide receiver RUSSELL GAGE and running back LEONARD FOURNETTE practiced on Thursday, but both were limited by hamstring issues. A lot of the top running back prospects are older guys – not ancient, but guys in the second halves of their careers. That makes me nervous, with it tending to be a younger man’s position.  more »
