Jaguars RB Armstead out of action for a while

Jacksonville running back RYQUELL ARMSTEAD was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list over the weekend and the team is not expecting him back soon. Head coach Doug Marrone said on MondayMore that it would be a while before Armstead is able to play. With LEONARD FOURNETTE no longer in town and Armstead out of action, the Jacksonville backfield looks like an iffy fantasy proposition. Less

Fantasy News: Bucs running backs

Looking at these Tampa Bay running backs, I don’t have a lot of confidence in any of them. I don’t know that we can count on any one guy getting a big workload.  more »

ROJO still the lead back for Bucs

Before fantasy owners rush to draft new Tampa Bay running back LEONARD FOURNETTE, it should be noted that head coach Bruce Arians said on Thursday that RONALD JONES remains atop theMore Bucs running back depth chart. Of course, Arians has said many things during an offseason in which Tampa Bay drafted rookie running back KE’SHAWN VAUGHN and signed veteran rusher LESEAN MCCOY. Less

Around the NFL: Fournette to Bucs

Leonard Fournette signed with the Bucs last night. It's not a completely shocking landing spot; some of us guessed Tampa Bay as a possibility back when he was released. The Bucs have talked out of both sides of their face when it came to their backfield all along.   more »

Former Jacksonville running back LEONARD FOURNETTE has reached an agreement on a one-year deal to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Factoid: Chris Thompson

Jacksonville’s dumping Leonard Fournette, and that’s got me very interested in Chris Thompson as a later-round pick. He should catch a ton of balls.  more »

Jaguars release RB Fournette

The Jacksonville Jaguars abruptly released running back LEONARD FOURNETTE this morning. Fournette had been having a productive training camp, but his three seasons in Jacksonville have been rocky. He was theMore fourth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, but the Jaguars have been exploring trade offers during the offseason. With no apparent interest, they released him instead. More to come. Around the NFL: Jaguars Axe Fournette

The Jaguars cut Leonard Fournette this morning. It's surprising, but not entirely shocking -- the team has seemingly wanted to move on from him for a couple of years now. (Tom Coughlin clashed with him more than once.) The Jaguars are not so quietly starting over, and now it's a brand-new backfield in Jacksonville.   more »

Fantasy News: Chris Thompson

I have some interest in Chris Thompson. Not as a headliner, but if we’re playing in a PPR format, he makes sense with a late-round pick as a depth option at running back.   more »

Jaguars moving forward with RB Fournette

Jacksonville GM Dave Caldwell said earlier this week that the team is going forward with LEONARD FOURNETTE as the starting running back heading into the upcoming season. The Jaguars recently exploredMore trade options for Fournette, and then declined his fifth-year option – meaning he will be a free agent after the season. While Fournette does not appear to be part of Jacksonville’s long-term plans, it looks like he will at least lead the way in 2020. Less

Jaguars sign RB Thompson to one-year deal

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed running back CHRIS THOMPSON to a one-year contract late last week. Until now, Thompson played his entire career for Washington. He is expected to complement running backMore LEONARD FOURNETTE as a receiving threat out of the backfield this season. Thompson is also known as an exceptional pass blocker, although you don’t get any fantasy points for that. Less

Jaguars to decline fifth-year option on Fournette

The Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly not picking up the fifth-year option on running back LEONARD FOURNETTE’s rookie contract. By declining Fournette’s option, he will be in the final year of hisMore rookie contract this season. He will then become an unrestricted free agent in 2021. Fournette was the fourth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft but he has failed to live up to expectations thus far. Less
