Breida to return vs. Saints

San Francisco 49ers running back MATT BREIDA will return from an ankle injury in time to play against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Breida was not on the 49ers injury report on Friday, after missing the past three games dealing with an injury.

49ers hopeful for Breida return vs. Saints

The San Francisco 49ers are hopeful that running back MATT BREIDA will be able to return for Sunday’s showdown against the New Orleans Saints. Breida injured his ankle in Week #10More and has been out of action for the past three games. He did practice all week before being ruled out for the 49ers game against Baltimore, which hopefully will not be the case this week. Less

Mostert has career game for 49ers

San Francisco running back RAHEEM MOSTERT finished Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens with a career-high 146 rushing yards and a touchdown. Fellow running back MATT BREIDA missed his third straight game due to an ankle injury, but Mostert picked up the slack against the Ravens.

The San Francisco 49ers are dealing with several injuries heading into Sunday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers. While there could be some game time decisions on tap, running backMore MATT BREIDA (ankle) and kicker ROBBIE GOULD (quad) did not practice this week and are doubtful for the game. Tight end GEORGE KITTLE (knee, ankle) and wide receivers EMMANUEL SANDERS (ribs) and DEEBO SAMUEL (shoulder) were all able to practice on a limited basis throughout the week – although they do carry some fantasy risk. The San Francisco 49ers rushed for 275 total yards in Monday night’s win over the Cleveland Browns. MATT BREIDA led the way, topping 100 rushing yards that included an 83-yard touchdownMore run on the first play from scrimmage. Coleman has high-ankle sprain

Breida listed atop 49ers depth chart

The San Francisco 49ers released their first unofficial depth chart for the season opening game against Tampa Bay, and MATT BREIDA was listed as the starting running back over TEVIN COLEMAN.More Breida had a career year last season but was presumed to be a backup when the 49ers signed Coleman to a big contract in the offseason. Instead, he appears to have locked down the starting gig to begin the season. Less

It's a discussion we've had here a bunch this offseason. Who will San Francisco's best running back be? All along I've thought it would be Matt Breida, even when he was considered No. 3 on the depth chart. Now he's inched his way up to be viewed as the No. 2, but I still think he might be the best.   more »
