Around the NFL: Seattle Defense

For a number of years, the Seattle fantasy defense was one of the first ones selected. Especially in leagues where points allowed is important, considering that four years in a row (2012-2015), it led the league in fewest points allowed. It wasn't always a great fantasy defense in sack- and turnover-based scoring systems (13th or worse in three of those years), but it wouldn't hurt you.   more »

Scheduletron: Strength of schedule

Carolina, Minnesota and Seattle project to see the weakest defenses this year. That’s what the schedule data tells us, anyway. The Panthers’ 16 opponents allowed an average of 24 points per game last year.  more »

Factoid: Goal-line rushing

So the Seahawks last night got down to the 1-yard line, and on a first and goal called a pass play that was nearly intercepted. Richard Sherman got into a sideline argument with the coaching staff about the call, saying "We've already seen how that goes."  more »

Factoid: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jameis Winston has had the hot hand recently, but I would be leery of starting him on Sunday against Seattle. The Seahawks will be missing half of their starting secondary (Earl Thomas, DeShawn Shead) but that’s just a really tough even. It’s a unit that remarkably has been even better on the road.   more »

As teams jockey for playoff spots and home-field advantage, it can be useful to look at the remaining schedules. According to how teams have played so far, The Seahawks, Texans, Bills and Falcons will play the easiest schedules the rest of the way.   more »

Factoid: Jordan Matthews

Jordan Matthews didn't practice Wednesday due to back soreness, so his availability will need to be monitored in advance of Philadelphia's game up in Seattle on Sunday. Assuming he's healthy, the Eagles No. 1 wideout will still face a tough matchup.   more »

Rawls on track to play vs. Eagles

Seattle running back THOMAS RAWLS is looking like he is on track to play on Sunday when the Seahawks face the Philadelphia Eagles. Coach Pete Carroll said Rawls is “practicing toMore play” as he appears to finally be recovered from the hairline fracture in his fibula. With rookie C.J. PROSISE and veteran CHRISTINE MICHAEL also in the mix, the Seahawks backfield looks like a risky fantasy proposition even with Rawls’ return to health. Less
