Around the NFL: Darren Fells

The Lions signed Darren Fells yesterday. It's his second stint with the team; he's actually played for four different teams in the last five years. I don't think anyone hoping to select T.J. Hockenson should be terribly concerned about Fells' presence, but it is something to factor into his projection.   more »

Lions add veteran TE Hill

The Detroit Lions signed former New Orleans Saints tight end JOSH HILL over the weekend. Hill spent the past eight seasons with the Saints, where he played five years for newMore Lions head coach Dan Campbell. Hill made seven starts for New Orleans last season, catching just 8 passes for 46 yards. Hill has been a reliable blocking tight end and should fill the role left vacant by last week’s release of fellow tight end JESSE JAMES. Meanwhile, fantasy owners looking to the Lions to meet their tight end needs should continue to focus on third-year TE T.J. HOCKENSON. Less

Factoid: Irv Smith Jr.

I have some interest in Irv Smith. He’s not as heralded as the other second-year tight ends (T.J. Hockenson, Noah Fant) but he has some of the same selling points.  more »

Lions WR Jones has lofty goals for 2020

Detroit Lions starting wide receiver MARVIN JONES says that he wants to lead the league in touchdowns in 2020, adding that he wants to catch over 15 touchdowns. While Jones’ goalMore is admirable, Antonio Brown and Dez Bryant are the only two wide receivers that have caught at least 15 touchdown passes in a season since 2012. Considering that KENNY GOLLADAY, DANNY AMENDOLA, and second-year tight end T.J. HOCKENSON are also on the roster – Jones could have a tough time reaching his goal. Less
