Factoid: Tyrion Davis-Price

At what point do we give up on Tyrion Davis-Price? The 49ers selected him in the third round, but he was underwhelming as a rookie. The team nowadays has three other backs who look a lot better.   more »

Fantasy News: Jeff Wilson

To me, Jeff Wilson looks like the best of the waiver wire possibilities this week. The injury to Eli Mitchell will elevate him into a larger role, and Wilson has been a capable replacement in previous seasons.  more »

Around the NFL: Backup running backs

Backup running back jobs are important. These players typically start at least a few games, with it being rare for anyone to last in a featured role for all 17 games. So makes sense to keep a close eye on these players in the preseason games.  more »

Around the NFL: Jeff Wilson

When it's time to start throwing late-round picks at running backs down the depth chart, how about Jeff Wilson? He's in a situation that has long been productive for players at the position, and he's delivered when given the chance. No reason to think it can't happen again.   more »

Around the NFL: Raheem Mostert

Injury-prone is a word that probably gets tossed around too frequently. Football is violent game where everyone gets hurt on occasion, and there's plenty of luck involved in staying healthy. But I think it can be reasonably applied to some players, which brings us to Raheem Mostert.   more »

49ers RB Mitchell out for TNF

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan was initially optimistic about running back ELIJAH MITCHELL’S potential availability for the 49ers Thursday Night Football showdown against the Tennessee Titans. That optimism is nowMore gone and Mitchell has officially been ruled out for Week #16 as he continues to deal with a bum knee. 49ers RB Mitchell injury “a little worse” than expected

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Wednesday that running back ELIJAH MITCHELL’s injury is “a little worse than a stinger”, which the team originally suspected. Mitchell missed practice onMore Wednesday as a result of the injury. But fear not fantasy owners, Shanahan added that Mitchell has “a chance at Sunday” – when the 49ers play against the Green Bay Packers. Shanahan also said that TREY SERMON, the team’s other rookie running back, was “on a good path” as he works his way through the concussion protocol. It’s tough being a 49ers running back. Less

49ers backfield hit by injuries again

The San Francisco 49ers lost their top three running backs to injuries in a span of five minutes in Sunday’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Mitchell was able to return to the game, but Hasty and Sermon remained out. The 49ers are hopeful that Mitchell’s injury is just a “stinger”. Less

Factoid: Here we go again?

When the 49ers used their sixth-round pick on Elijah Mitchell, I jokingly suggested that we should all be keeping an eye on him. Kyle Shanahan’s track record with lightly regarded running backs, after all, is pretty stellar. With the first week of the season in the books, this is now looking a lot more possible.  more »

Rookie RB Sermon should have role in 49ers backfield

San Francisco rookie running back TREY SERMON has the vision, patience, and burst to be a perfect fit in Kyle Shanahan’s outside zone system. Sermon also brings a pass-catching dynamic thatMore has been missing from the 49ers running back corps. While RAHEEM MOSTERT is expected to lead the San Francisco backfield, he has had trouble staying healthy. Fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on Sermon as the offseason progresses. Less
