Reunited and it Feels So Good
Apologies in advance if the song remains stuck in your head the rest of the day. After a Wednesday afternoon trade between New Orleans and Houston, former Saints running back MARK… More INGRAM has been reunited with his former team and backfield mate ALVIN KAMARA. New Orleans drafted Ingram in the first round in 2011, and he played for the Saints for eight seasons before eventually being exiled this year to Houston. Ingram adds veteran depth in the Saints backfield. Less

The Saints are using Alvin Kamara more as a runner this year. In three of their four games, he’s carried 20-plus times for 80-plus yards. But they have dialed back his role in the passing game. Substantially. more »

Chargers RB Ekeler has great expectations for 2021 season
Los Angeles Chargers running back AUSTIN EKELER said this week that he is betting on himself to make plays in the team’s new offense under new OC Joe Lombardi. Ekeler added… More that he can be used in much the same way Lombardi used running back ALVIN KAMARA during their time together with the New Orleans Saints. Ekeler had an amazing 2019 season before struggling in 2020, playing in just 10 games due to injuries. Fantasy owners are hoping for a return to form under Lombardi in 2021. Less

Around the NFL: New Orleans running backs
A story in The Athletic theorizes that the Saints, in the wake of Drew Brees' retirement, will give more touches to running backs Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray. It's an idea that makes sense, but there's no getting around the fact that those players weren't better without Brees in the lineup the last two seasons -- they were worse. more »

Saints sign RB Montgomery to one-year extension
The New Orleans Saints signed running back TY MONTGOMERY to a one-year contract extension, meaning he will return to the team for the upcoming 2021 season. Injuries limited Montgomery to just… More six games in 2020. While technically a running back these days, Montgomery was versatile enough to also play wide receiver last season after a rash of injuries depleted the receiving corps. With Montgomery returning, the Saints now have three running backs under contract for the 2021 season, including Montgomery, ALVIN KAMARA and LATAVIUS MURRAY. Less

Kamara, Thomas return to lead Saints
New Orleans running back ALVIN KAMARA returned after missing last week’s game due to a positive coronavirus test, and he helped lead the Saints to a playoff victory over the Chicago… More Bears. Kamara topped 100 combined rushing and receiving yards while adding a touchdown in the win. Meanwhile, wide receiver MICHAEL THOMAS also returned to action after being activated from injured reserve. Thomas has dealt with a high ankle issue for much of the season, but he returned to add a touchdown to go along with 5 catches for 73 yards. Less

Kamara could be available for Saints wild-card playoff game
New Orleans Saints running back ALVIN KAMARA could be available for Sunday’s wild card playoff game against the Chicago Bears. If the Saints game had been scheduled for Saturday, Kamara would… More not have been available. If all goes according to plan with his 10-day quarantine and he does not come down with additional symptoms (and the Saints’ medical team clears him to return) Kamara would be eligible to play against the Bears. New Orleans Saints running back ALVIN KAMARA did not practice on Thursday after being a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice session.
