Raiders release veteran TE Howard

The Las Vegas Raiders released veteran tight end O.J. HOWARD this week. Howard originally signed with the Raiders as a free agent in March as part of the team’s plan toMore move on without fellow tight end DARREN WALLER. Raiders add free agent TE Hooper

Hooper is the second tight end the Raiders have signed this week, following the signing of O.J. HOWARD previously. Less

Andy Richardson: Sleeper tight ends

I'm not crazy about the costs on tight ends I'm seeing so far. I don't really want to use a first- or second-round pick on Travis Kelce or Mark Andrews, with one being old and one being tied to a passing game I'm concerned about. I like Kyle Pitts, but he's also going really early.   more »

Browns release TE Hooper

The Cleveland Browns released tight end AUSTIN HOOPER earlier this week after two seasons. Hooper was just halfway into a four-year contract with Cleveland, but his time with the Browns didMore not work well for either party. Hooper was mediocre at best, and the Browns recently used the franchise tag on fellow tight end DAVID NJOKU. Cleveland also has a promising young tight end in HARRISON BRYANT, thus Hooper was deemed expendable. Less

Around the NFL: David Njoku

David Njoku has had more downs than ups during his first five seasons in the league, but the expectation is that the Browns will attempt to re-sign him to a deal averaging over $10 million.   more »

Browns TE Hooper stands out as camp winds down

As the Cleveland Browns near the end of their 2020 training camp, tight end AUSTIN HOOPER stands out as one of the stars of camp. Hooper and quarterback BAKER MAYFIELD developedMore a chemistry during camp, with the Browns new tight end catching everything thrown his way – especially in the red zone. Mayfield has always thrown to his tight ends, dating back to his college days, and he may have found his new security blanket and weapon over the middle in Hooper. Less

Browns TE Njoku hires new agent, asks for trade

Cleveland tight end DAVID NJOKU hired Drew Rosenhaus as his new agent, and Rosenhaus proceeded to ask the Browns to trade his new client before the start of training camp. TheMore Browns picked up the fifth-year option on Njoku in April, suggesting that the team is not likely planning to trade him. Njoku was a first-round pick in 2017, but the Browns signed free-agent tight end AUSTIN HOOPER in the offseason. With Hooper on board in Cleveland, Njoku’s role is likely to be limited. Less

Factoid: Austin Hooper

The counterpart to the Hayden Hurst item run over the weekend is how Atlanta's former tight end, Austin Hooper, might fare in his new home. Can a top-10 tight end with Matt Ryan the last two years be similarly productive in Cleveland?  more »

Factoid: Hayden Hurst

I participated in an Experts Draft last week. I left wondering if Hayden Hurst might be this year's version of Austin Hooper. Not just for Atlanta, but for fantasy leagues, as well. He was available much later than I expected — later than I think he should be.  more »

Factoid: Austin Hooper

Austin Hooper signed the big free agent deal with Cleveland, but I’m confident I won’t be selecting him in any leagues this year. I’m pretty sure I’ll be slotting him behind a number of tight ends who’ll be going later in drafts.  more »

Around the NFL: Hayden Hurst

It doesn't have the wow appeal of the DeAndre Hopkins for David Johnson trade or the high profile of the Browns signing Austin Hooper. But a guy whose value changed a lot in yesterday's trades was the guy who will step into Hooper's shoes in Atlanta, Hayden Hurst.   more »
