Factoid: Treylon Burks
What can be expected from Treylon Burks (and other first-round rookie wideouts)? Six were selected in the top 20 picks back in April, and most joined teams where there's the potential to be early starters. Actually putting up strong numbers right away in fantasy leagues, though, is a hit-or-miss kind of deal. more »

Lions place WR Williams on NFI list
The Detroit Lions have placed rookie wide receiver JAMESON WILLIAMS on the reserve/non-football injury (NFI) list, meaning he will be out for at least the first four games of the season.… More Williams tore his ACL in the CFP National Championship in January, which allowed the team to send him to the NFI list. The Lions are hopeful that Williams will be back around midseason. Less

Lions place rookie WR Williams on NFI list
The Detroit Lions placed rookie wide receiver JAMESON WILLIAMS on the non-football injury (NFI) list on Sunday. Williams, the 12th overall pick in April’s draft, could miss at least the first… More six weeks of the season as he works his way back from a torn ACL suffered in Alabama’s national championship game loss in January. Williams heads to the NFI list instead of the PUP list because his injury happened before he was drafted. Players on the NFI and PUP lists are eligible to come off at any time during training camp. Players who start the season on one of those lists are eligible to return in Week #7. Less

Factoid: Rookie receivers
Camps are opening, and it will be interesting to get eyes on some of these rookie receivers. There are no can’t-miss type prospects, but with the volume that were selected (including six with top-20 picks) there should be at least some value in there somewhere. more »

Dynasty Leagues: First-round wideouts
Rookie drafts are occurring in some dynasty leagues this month (if they haven't already happened), and I expect the first round will be wide receiver-heavy in most of them. That was the case in the actual NFL Draft, with four selected in the top 12 picks. I wondered how often those early selection pan out in the NFL -- what are the odds of them busting? more »

Lions rookie WR Williams not likely to be ready for training camp
Detroit head coach Dan Campbell said yesterday that he did not think rookie first-round wide receiver JAMESON WILLIAMS would be ready for training camp. Williams had initially hoped to be ready… More in time for camp but he is still working his way back from the ACL injury he suffered in the National Championship game in January. Williams is expected to eventually move into the starting lineup alongside DJ CHARK and AMON-RA ST. BROWN. Less

Williams suffered the injury on January 11th and the… More Lions season opener is scheduled for September 11th, which will be exactly eight months of recovery. ACL repair recovery typically takes 9-12 months, though there are instances where it’s taken less time. A realistic timeframe for Williams to return could be somewhere in September or October. Less

The Lions selected Alabama wide… More receiver JAMESON WILLIAMS with the 12th overall pick after selecting defensive end AIDAN HUTCHINSON with the second overall pick. Jameson has been described as “uncoverable”, although he is currently working his way back from a torn ACL suffered in the National Championship Game. Williams’ talent is clear, although it is uncertain when he will be available to contribute to the Lions or fantasy owners. Less

I will be interested to see where Jameson Williams goes. There are some who believe he’s the best receiver in this draft, but he’s not a usual kind of prospect. more »

Factoid: First-round wideouts
It's an exciting draft class of wide receivers, with the Ohio State duo of Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave (pictured), Alabama's Jameson Williams and others looking like Day 1 picks. Considering how guys like Justin Jefferson and JaMarr Chase have performed right away the last two years, it's even more exciting. But the draft is not an exact science. more »

Factoid: Rookie receivers
It’s a weird year for wide receivers. There’s plenty of talent, with perhaps a record number being selected in the first three rounds, but there’s no clear No. 1 prospect. In my eyes, there’s no receiver who looks like a lock to be one of the first two selected at the position. more »

Around the NFL: Philadelphia Eagles
Before Calvin Ridley was suspended for the season, there were a couple of teams looking to trade for him. We learned last week that the Eagles were one of those teams, which makes sense. Last year's top pick DeVonta Smith was a 900-yard receiver, but he was about all they had at the position. more »

Alabama WR Williams declares for NFL Draft
Alabama star wide receiver JAMESON WILLIAMS announced on Thursday that he will forgo his senior season and enter the NFL Draft. Williams led the SEC in receiving yards and touchdowns this… More season and is projected as possibly the best wide receiver in the draft. Williams’ draft standing was, unfortunately, complicated when he tore the ACL in his left knee during the College Football Championship game on Monday. Fortunately for future fantasy owners, Williams is expected to make a full recovery. Less
