Around the NFL: Rex Burkhead lands on injured reserve

Sony Michel has been underwhelming so far. He missed all of August after undergoing a knee procedure, and he hasn’t been effective in his initial action. But by process of elimination, it’s looking like he might be a top-15 running back in the second half of the season.   more »

Around the NFL: Jeremy Hill

We've all been burned by Patriots running backs. But they can reward fantasy teams handsomely, too, as LeGarrette Blount showed a couple of years ago, and Dion Lewis and Rex Burkhead did (if you had them at the right times). Is Jeremy Hill now on that track?  more »

Around the NFL: New England running backs

What are realistic expectations for Sony Michel? He’s super talented, and he’s going to what’s been the league’s dominant team for the last 17 years. The way he ripped off chunks of yards in his final two games last year (against Oklahoma and Alabama) it’s reasonable to wonder if he might have a top-10 season in him.   more »

Factoid: Jeremy Hill

Jeremy Hill is sitting out there in my dynasty league, and I'm mildly intrigued. He's been pretty awful the last few years, averaging 3.1 to 3.8 yards per attempt three years in a row. But in two of those seasons he scored 9 and 11 TDs, and he could find himself in position to have another such season with New England.   more »

The Bengals ranked last in the league in rushing entering Sunday’s game, averaging only 68 yards per week. But they were playing their in-state rivals, and good things tend to happen for Cincinnati in the Battle of Ohio.   more »

Coach tells Bengals RB Mixon to “show maturity”

Cincinnati rookie running back JOE MIXON voiced his displeasure with his second-half workload against Pittsburgh last weekend. Head coach Marvin Lewis responded by saying that Mixon needed to “show maturity likeMore everybody else”. In addition to competing for time with fellow backs JEREMY HILL and GIOVANI BERNARD, Mixon has now annoyed his coach. While the fantasy potential exists for Mixon, owners have to wonder if he will get the opportunity. Less

Around the NFL: Jeremy Hill

The Bengals drafted Joe Mixon in the second round, willing to withstand the criticism they'd get for selecting a player with an ugly off-field incident in his past. Our lean is that they'll waste little time getting him in the lineup. But Geoff Hobson isn't so sure that Jeremy Hill is on the outs.   more »
