Vikings offense struggles again in preseason loss to Colts

The Minnesota Vikings lost Saturday’s preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts, failing to produce an offensive touchdown in eight quarters of preseason football thus far. Quarterback KIRK COUSINS played sparingly, whileMore the Vikings rested running back DALVIN COOK and wide receiver JUSTIN JEFFERSON. Factoid: Losing vs. passing

I have heard the theory floated a few times over the last month that it can be a good thing to pick pass catchers from lesser teams. If a team is trailing often, the idea goes, it will be passing more, resulting in more catches, yards and touchdowns. It got me wondering if there’s any truth in the notion.  more »

Vikings add WR Westbrook to wideout mix

The Minnesota Vikings signed former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver DEDE WESTBROOK on Sunday. The 27-year-old wide receiver showed potential early in his career but suffered a season-ending knee injury in theMore second game of the 2020 season. Westbrook reunites with new Vikings receivers coach Kennan McCardell, who has coached him his entire NFL career thus far. Factoid: Super Bowl favorites

The odds indicate Kansas City and Tampa Bay are the teams most likely to play in the Super Bowl. That’s reasonable enough, with both rosters looking stacked and both teams having gotten there last year. But history suggests it’s far more likely some unheralded team will emerge.   more »

When a rookie receiver puts up good numbers (like Justin Jefferson last year) the natural tendency is to assume he’s on his way to stardom. That he’ll get even better in his second season, having had a chance to adapt to the pro game and develop a better rapport with his quarterback. But that’s not generally how it tends to play out on the field.  more »

Vikings WR Jefferson breaks rookie record

Minnesota wide receiver JUSTIN JEFFERSON set a new Super Bowl-era (since 1966) record in Sunday’s win over the Detroit Lions. The rookie wideout finished the 2020 season with 1,400 receiving yards,More breaking the previous record of 1,377 set by Anquan Boldin back in 2003. Jefferson also passed Minnesota Hall of Famer Randy Moss’ franchise rookie receiving record in Sunday’s game. Cousins, Jefferson lead Vikings comeback vs. Panthers

Veteran quarterback KIRK COUSINS threw 3 touchdowns in Sunday’s comeback win against the Carolina Panthers. While Cousins spread the ball around (4 receivers caught 7 passes each) his preference in the end zone was rookie wide receiver JUSTIN JEFFERSON, who caught 2 touchdown passes in the game.

Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson have been putting up strong numbers for Minnesota. Thielen averages 71 yards and has scored 4 touchdowns, while Jefferson averages 87 yards, with 1 touchdown. They should keep things going at Seattle this week.   more »
