Fantasy Index Weekly: New England Patriots
New England’s offense probably will score 3-4 TDs, and just 3 TDs looks more likely. Pittsburgh’s defense has been playing pretty well. It’s allowed only 19 TDs in its last 10 meaningful game. Only two opponents in there scored more than 2 TDs (the Cowboys, and at Buffalo). The Patriots have a great offense, of course, but they’re going without Rob Gronkowski, who’s caused major problems for the Steelers in the past (including two games with 3 TD catches). more »

Martellus Bennett has had a frustrating season, with four huge games (a 3-TD performance and three 100-yard games) and then eight others where he did nothing at all -- fewer than 50 receiving yards and no touchdowns in those other eight games. Bennett ready to roll with Gronk out
New England tight end MARTELLUS BENNETT is likely to see an uptick in touches as a result of ROB GRONKOWSKI’s back surgery. While he has been dealing with ankle and shoulder… More injuries of his own, Bennett said he is feeling good. His fantasy owners will also be feeling good if Bennett can replace some of Gronkowski’s production against Los Angeles on Sunday. Less

Gronkowski not likely to play Sunday
New England tight end ROB GRONKOWSKI missed his second consecutive practice on Thursday as he continues to recover from a chest injury suffered last Sunday. With Gronk’s status in doubt, fellow tight end MARTELLUS BENNETT could see an increased workload against the San Francisco 49ers this weekend.

Rob Gronkowski took a big hit in the game against Seattle; the question is how significant were the effects. Ian Rapoport said yesterday that Gronk had a punctured lung, an injury which would no doubt sideline him for this week and possibly beyond. Adam Schefter, though, said bruised chest, and not overly serious. more »
