Scheduletron: Strength of schedule

Matt Nagy did a nice job in his first season, with the Bears winning 12 games and capturing the NFC North for the first time in eight years. They were, however, helped along by the league’s easiest schedule.  more »

Around the NFL: A Thanksgiving turkey?

Thanksgiving is that great time of year for getting family together, eating gluttonously, and watching lots of football. But the early game often gets shafted -- people are traveling or making chit-chat or peeling potatoes -- and it looks like injuries will rob us of some of the better players this year.   more »

Factoid: Mitchell Trubisky, Part 2

I ran an item on Mitchell Trubisky the other day, showing the increase/decrease in passing yards from Year 1 to Year 2 for quarterbacks selected in the top 10. It was a response to a Kyle Long interview that Trubisky is looking more comfortable in his second year. Call this the John Evans revision.   more »

Around the NFL: Mitchell Trubisky

Gotta love Bears guard Kyle Long, and his colorful description of his second-year quarterback's growth. "My little boy is becoming a man," Long said. "They've taken the training wheels off of Mitch's little bike. " So what can be expected from Mitchell Trubisky in Year 2?  more »

Factoid: Brave new world for Bears offense

The Bears have hired former Kansas City offensive coordinator Matt Nagy as their head coach. The 39-year-old replaces John Fox, and you wonder if Chicago isn't thinking it's landed the next Sean McVay, who replaced another NFL dinosaur in Jeff Fisher and quickly turned the Rams around.   more »

Career day for Howard

Chicago running back JORDAN HOWARD finished Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens with career highs in both carries and yards. With rookie quarterback MITCHELL TRUBISKY unable to accomplish much in the passing game, Howard saved the day for both the Bears and his fantasy owners.

Trubisky era begins in Chicago

Factoid: Mitchell Trubisky makes first start

Mitchell Trubisky is starting his first game as a pro tonight. Does that mean we should all be using Minnesota’s defense? With Trubisky being inexperienced, does that mean he’s extra likely to fork over a bunch of sacks and turnovers? Not necessarily.  more »

Trubisky era to begin in Chicago?

Chicago head coach John Fox said the Bears need to make a lot of changes after Monday night’s loss at Green Bay, adding that the team is “going to look atMore everything”. Quarterback MIKE GLENNON threw 2 interceptions and lost 2 fumbles, likely meaning that one of the things Fox will be looking at could be a switch to rookie quarterback MITCHELL TRUBISKY. Less

Factoid: Top QB prospects will start on bench

Second-rounder DeShone Kizer will be a Week 1 starter for Cleveland, and few saw that coming. It seemed more likely one or two of the first-rounders would open the season in the starting lineup, but that's not happening. Tom Savage is starting over Deshaun Watson, and Mitchell Trubisky and Patrick Mahomes will also start out as backups (Trubisky might be No. 3).   more »

Andy Richardson: Draft lies

The NFL Draft is three days away, and everyone and his brother is putting out a mock of what they think will happen. And everyone in the media (to use the term loosely) is reporting what teams are thinking about doing or not doing when their first-round pick comes up. A lot of it sounds like an effort to distract people from they're actually planning on doing.   more »
