Factoid: Jeremy Hill

Jeremy Hill is sitting out there in my dynasty league, and I'm mildly intrigued. He's been pretty awful the last few years, averaging 3.1 to 3.8 yards per attempt three years in a row. But in two of those seasons he scored 9 and 11 TDs, and he could find himself in position to have another such season with New England.   more »

Fantasy Index Weekly: Updated Super Bowl LII Player Rankings

The Patriots and Eagles have released their final injury reports for the Super Bowl. It's a very clean list: "No Players Listed." Every player for both teams practiced fully on Friday. Rob Gronkowski, Rex Burkhead and Eagles like Jay Ajayi (ankle) and Timmy Jernigan (illness) are all good to go.   more »

Factoid: Top quarterbacks versus Philadelphia

Most will agree that the major differentiator between the two teams playing Super Bowl LII is the quarterbacks. Imagine if it had been the top 2 MVP candidates in Carson Wentz and Tom Brady. Instead we've got Brady and Eagles backup Nick Foles. Huge advantage for New England.   more »

Around the NFL: All hands on deck for Patriots

It would be nice to see a compelling Super Bowl, so maybe there are some thinking it would be a plus if the game's best tight end doesn't get cleared to return from a concussion. But the general suspicion last week that two weeks would be plenty of time for Rob Gronkowski appears correct.   more »

Fantasy Index Weekly: Super Bowl LII Preview: New England Patriots (Part II)

With the Eagles having the league's best run defense, New England's offense will almost certainly emphasize the pass. That's covered in Part I of the preview. Now a look at the receivers who will be catching all of those balls. There are a number of possibilities.   more »

Fantasy Index Weekly: Super Bowl LII Preview: New England Patriots (Part I)

The Patriots are trying to win their sixth Super Bowl, and strong chance they'll do it. They've got the better offense (if for no other reason than they've got a Hall of Fame quarterback), and their defense has performed better than its ranking for more than half a season. But it looks like it should be a competitive game, matched up with the regular season's best all-around team, and a below-average situation for their offense.   more »

Andy Richardson: A Day of Football

In some respects, we should have all seen it coming. I guess most of us knew the Patriots were going back to the Super Bowl, no shock there. But the Eagles weren't favored in either playoff game; the popular belief was that no Carson Wentz meant no Super Bowl. And that was really wrong.   more »

Fantasy Index Weekly: Championship Preview: New England Patriots

We published the season's final issue of Fantasy Index Weekly last week. But there are still four NFL teams playing, and fantasy playoff leagues that will require teams to start players in those games. So over the rest of this week, we'll take a look at the final four teams, and their fantasy prospects. First up are the (heavy) favorites, the New England Patriots.   more »

New England defense surprises on Thursday night

After struggling since the start of the 2017 season, the New England defense delivered an unexpected performance against Tampa Bay on Thursday night. While the Patriots still allowed 409 total yards, they were able to make key stops while holding the Bucs to just 14 points.

Around the NFL: Will the Patriots bounce back?

The Patriots got smacked around in the second half by Kansas City last night, which most of us really enjoyed. Doesn't happen to New England very often -- ever, really -- especially at home. Are we seeing the end of the Belichick-Brady era?  more »
