Dynasty Leagues: Long-term tight end rankings

That was a nice debut game for Sam LaPorta. He had 5 passes thrown his way, and he caught all of them. Only one rookie tight end in the last 20 years has done that in his first game. Only three have opened by catching even more passes.   more »


Factoid: Sam LaPorta

I'm torn on Sam LaPorta. On the one hand, rookie tight ends seldom deliver right away. LaPorta barely played in the preseason (and when he did, he was dropping the only pass thrown his way). But on the other hand, camp report after camp report had him as Jared Goff's 2nd-favorite target after Amon-Ra St. Brown. That sounds pretty good.   more »

I expect a rookie tight end or two will make an impact. Nine of them, after all, were selected in the first three rounds. You throw that many darts, and something is going to hit. But the track record for rookie tight ends is pretty lousy.   more »


Around the NFL: Sam LaPorta

There have been some positive reports on Lions' second-round tight end Sam LaPorta. The team's website says he's been a "favorite target" for quarterbacks at OTAs. The second tight end drafted in April might very well have the most significant rookie impact.   more »
