Once everyone is healthy, the quarterback room in San Francisco looks to be a crowded place. The 49ers have agreed to a one-year deal with former Jets and Panthers quarterback SAMMore DARNOLD. San Francisco quarterback BROCK PURDY suffered a serious injury during the NFC Championship game on Sunday and will likely be sidelined for about six months, according to multiple reports. Purdy hasMore a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. Despite the long rehab ahead, the timeline would have Purdy back before the start of the 2023 preseason. The San Francisco 49ers worked out multiple quarterbacks on Tuesday and are adding KURT BENKERT to the practice squad. With TREY LANCE out for the season after suffering a broken ankle during last Sunday’s game against Seattle, Benkert gives the 49ers a third quarterback behind JIMMY GAROPPOLO and BROCK PURDY.

When you have a quarterback who looks likely to run for about 8 TDs on his own – think Jalen Hurts, Trey Lance and Josh Allen – does that make the running backs on that roster less likely to score?
