Factoid: Anemic Jets

I’ve got the red zone numbers in front of me, and the stats for the Jets are even worse than I thought. They had a historically bad offense last year.   more »

Factoid: Breece Hall

I don't have Breece Hall anywhere; I was nervous with him coming off a torn ACL, and the Jets were too (given the ridiculous contract they gave Dalvin Cook). But if I did have him, I would be starting him with enthusiasm this week, facing the Giants.   more »

Jets offense struggles vs. Cowboys

Fantasy owners had great expectations for the New York Jets offense heading into the 2023 NFL season. Unfortunately, things look very different with ZACH WILSON at the helm than they wereMore expected to look with AARON RODGERS at the controls. Wilson was just 12 of 27 for 170 yards and three interceptions in Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The Jets managed just one big play in the game, a 68-yard touchdown from Wilson to wide receiver GARRETT WILSON. The running game struggled as well, with DALVIN COOK and BREECE HALL both failing to do much on behalf of their fantasy owners. Less

Jets RB Cook expected to be a full go for MNF

New York Jets running back DALVIN COOK is reportedly a full go for the team’s season opener against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. Cook is coming off shoulder surgeryMore this offseason but he practiced well after signing with the Jets and he appears to be ready to roll. Cook is expected to share the Jets backfield with fellow running back BREECE HALL, who is coming back from a torn ACL. Less

Jets RBs Hall, Cook both expected to play in season opener

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said recently that the team will be smart about how they deploy running backs BREECE HALL and DALVIN COOK in the season opener againstMore the Buffalo Bills on September 11th. Given the limited practice time for both players during training camp and the preseason, the news is not unexpected. Saleh added that neither running back will be on a predetermined snap count, but fantasy owners may need to take a wait and see approach to the Jets backfield in the weeks ahead. Less

Jets cut RB Knight

The New York Jets deep and talented running back room has one less rusher after the team released young running back ZONOVAN KNIGHT on Monday. Knight seemingly won’t be without workMore for long, with several teams reportedly interested in claiming him off waivers. With fellow running backs DALVIN COOK, BREECE HALL, MICHAEL CARTER and 2023 fifth-round draft pick ISRAEL ABANIKANDA all ahead of him on the depth chart, Knight was unlikely to help fantasy owners even if he had remained with the Jets. Factoid: Preseason stats

Just how important are these preseason games? Breece Hall and Kenneth Walker, after all, were both underwhelming in the preseason last year. They got a lot better in the real games.   more »

Jets RB Hall activated from PUP list

New York Jets second-year running back BREECE HALL came off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on Tuesday. Hall was limited in Tuesday’s practice as he didn’t participate in 11-on-11More drills with the team, although he did take part in team warmups. Head coach Robert Saleh said after practice that the Jets would “take our time with him” as the young rusher works his way back from a torn ACL suffered last October. Saleh has continually said that he expects Hall to be ready for the team’s season opener against the Buffalo Bills on September 11th. Less

Around the NFL: Dalvin Cook

Evidently the Jets aren't 100 percent confident in Breece Hall's ACL recovery after all. Or GM Aaron Rodgers just wants to make sure the team has plenty of options. Whatever the case, the Jets have another high-caliber running back, after bringing in Dalvin Cook.  more »

Jets add free agent RB Cook

The New York Jets signed former Minnesota Vikings running back DALVIN COOK on Monday evening to a one-year deal worth up to $8.6 million. Cook, a second-round pick in 2017, hadMore made the Pro Bowl in each of his past four seasons and had rushed for over 1,135 yards each year. Fellow running back BREECE HALL is still recovering from an ACL injury, although the team has maintained that he could be ready for the start of the regular season. The Jets also have running back MICHAEL CARTER as part of a deep running back corps. Less

Around the NFL: Dalvin Cook

The Jets will bring in Dalvin Cook for a visit on Sunday. I take that as evidence Robert Saleh was either being dishonest or just kidding around when he said Breece Hall reached 23 mph while running on the side at a practice last week.   more »

Free agent RB Cook to visit Jets this weekend

Free agent running back DALVIN COOK is reportedly set to visit this weekend with the New York Jets. Since Cook’s release from Minnesota, the Jets have been one team consistently rumoredMore to be interested int the four-time Pro Bowl running back. It’s a logical pairing considering New York’s top running back, BREECE HALL, is coming off an ACL tear and is currently on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. While the team hopes to have Hall back in time for the regular season opener, Cook would provide backfield depth and a workhorse rusher and home-run threat to pair with Hall. Stay tuned, fantasy owners. Less

Jets place RB Hall on PUP list

The New York Jets placed second year running back BREECE HALL on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list this week. The PUP list is a designation for players who areMore unable to suit up and practice due to football-related injuries. Anyone on the PUP list cannot practice until the team activates them. Hall suffered an ACL injury in October and has been working his way back since that time. The Jets are hopeful that Hall will be ready for the team’s season opener against the Buffalo Bills on September 11th. Less

Jets RB Hall expects to be ready for season opener

New York Jets running back BREECE HALL remains optimistic that he will be ready to roll at the start of the season after missing the final 10 games of his rookieMore season due to a torn ACL. Hall said that he is “doing pretty good right now” in a recent interview, adding that he is focused on getting his knee as strong as possible while gaining his confidence back. There has been some talk of the Jets signing free agent running back DALVIN COOK, but getting Hall back to form would be a major boost even if the veteran Cook does eventually sign with the Jets. Around the NFL: Breece Hall

Breece Hall and Javonte Williams are both coming off torn ACLs, while Rashaad Penny is coming off a broken leg. They suffered those injuries in the first half of last season, so to varying degrees there's hope they'll be ready for Week 1. But it's also clear their teams aren't counting on them.   more »
