RB Freeman willing to sit out 2020 season over contract desires

Free agent running back DEVONTA FREEMAN is reportedly prepared to sit out the 2020 season if his contract expectations are not met. Freeman recently passed on a potential one-year deal withMore the Seattle Seahawks that was worth up to $4 million. The Seahawks quickly moved on and reached a deal with veteran CARLOS HYDE. Freeman, meanwhile, is coming off a pair of disappointing seasons, rushing for a career-low 3.6 yards per carry last season. Less

Around the NFL: Carlos Hyde

The Seahawks signed Carlos Hyde yesterday, the culmination of their reported efforts to add a veteran running back (their first choice was apparently Devonta Freeman, who unwisely turned them down). Hyde puts the journey in journeyman -- Seattle is the 5th team he's been with since 2018, if you can believe that.   more »

Around the NFL: Devonta Freeman

Couple of stories circulating yesterday with Seattle talking to veteran running backs. Chris Carson is coming off hip surgery, and Rashaad Penny blew out his knee late last season. Carson is expected to be ready for Week 1, Penny isn't.   more »

Factoid: Run-only backs

Admittedly, it’s ridiculously early. But I’ve got three running backs that I think will be overdrafted in a lot of leagues: Marlon Mack, Sony Michel and Carlos Hyde.  more »

Around the NFL: Carlos Hyde

So Nate Taylor of The Athletic doesn't see Carlos Hyde making Kansas City's 53-man roster. Hyde has caused some debate here over the past few months, with some thinking he was one of the better handcuffs, and others not confident he'd win the backup job. Right now, the naysayers look correct.   more »

RB Committee coming to Kansas City

Kansas City head coach Andy Reid said in a recent interview that the team is planning to implement a “running back by committee” strategy heading into the 2019 season. Running backMore DAMIEN WILLIAMS was initially named the starting running back, but his hamstring injury may have opened the door for other backs on the roster. Running backs CARLOS HYDE and DARRYL WILLIAMS seem the most likely candidates to receive extra carries, although Reid was complementary of his entire running back corps. Less

Kansas City RB Williams remains out with bad hammy

Kansas City running back DAMIEN WILLIAMS continues to miss practice time while dealing with an injured hamstring. Head coach Andy Reid expressed slight concern, saying that Williams has “missed quite aMore bit” due to the injury. Meanwhile, veteran CARLOS HYDE has been gaining reps and is reportedly taking full advantage of the opportunity. Less

Kansas City adds veteran running back

Kansas City signed running back CARLOS HYDE, just one day after he was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars. DAMIEN WILLIAMS enters the season as Kansas City’s starting running back, but theMore 28-year-old Hyde should be a good, veteran complement. Backups CHARCANDRICK WEST and SPENCER WARE will be free agents when the new league year opens on Wednesday. Less

Around the NFL: Carlos Hyde

The Jaguars released Carlos Hyde on Friday, an unsurprising end to his brief Jacksonville career. He signed with Kansas City on Saturday, but to me that's good news for fantasy appeal of Damien Williams -- Hyde won't be a threat to start. He's squarely in the veteran backup phase of his career, just another forgettable running back from a largely forgettable draft class.   more »

Cleveland rookie running back NICK CHUBB took over the backfield duties for the Browns with fellow running back CARLOS HYDE being traded to Jacksonville on Friday. Chubb looked like he was up to the challenge on Sunday, rushing 18 times for 80 yards with a touchdown against Tampa Bay.

Jaguars add RB Hyde via trade

The Jacksonville Jaguars acquired running back CARLOS HYDE from the Cleveland Browns on Friday for a fifth-round draft pick. LEONARD FOURNETTE will miss Sunday’s game against Houston because of his rightMore hamstring strain and backup T.J. YELDON has been playing through an ankle injury. Hyde should be a welcome addition to the Jaguars. Less

Hyde leads Cleveland running game

On a night in which the passing game was underwhelming, Cleveland running back CARLOS HYDE led the Browns rushing attack against the Buffalo Bills in preseason action. Hyde ran for 64More yards with an impressive 7.1 yards per carry average in just under a half of action. The Browns backfield is crowded, but Hyde could lead the way. Less

Around the NFL: Nick Chubb

A lot of Browns fans wanted the team to select Saquon Barkley at No. 1 overall, then take a quarterback at No. 4. The Browns instead went withquarterback, Barkley went to the Giants, and Cleveland selected Nick Chubb in the second round. Chubb isn't as exciting a prospect as Barkley, but there's some fantasy appeal if he wins the starting job -- which he might.   more »

Cleveland running backs coach Freddie Kitchens says the Browns will plan to ride the “hot hand” this season when it comes to the team’s backfield. The Browns backfield is somewhat crowded after signing CARLOS HYDE, drafting NICK CHUBB, and giving DUKE JOHNSON a contract extension.
